Liverpool had an impressive outing on Tuesday, decisively defeating Bayer Leverkusen 4-0.

Although the Reds faced considerable pressure in the first half against Xabi Alonso’s team, they surged ahead after halftime.

This match mirrored Liverpool’s previous encounter, where they secured a 2-0 win against Brighton on Saturday.

Once again, the Reds navigated a lackluster first half before elevating their performance after the break.

The Anfield crowd played a significant role in energizing the team, just as they did over the weekend.

In the aftermath of Liverpool’s win against Brighton, former Reds defender Jamie Carragher appeared on Sky Sports’ Monday Night Football to analyze his former team’s display.

After Carragher suggested that Liverpool was playing a style that Arne Slot did not favor during that match, the Liverpool manager addressed him following the comprehensive win over Leverkusen.

Carragher and Slot had previously met for an interview early in the Dutchman’s tenure.

Sharing the same age and footballing background, the two have developed a friendly rapport.

This camaraderie was evident when Slot joined Carragher, Micah Richards, Thierry Henry, and Kate Abdo on CBS Sports Golazo for a discussion on Tuesday night.

When Carragher asked Slot about the experience of witnessing another quick double from his team at Anfield, the Liverpool academy alumnus was met with a light-hearted response.

Slot acknowledged having seen Carragher’s analysis earlier in the week and expressed his disagreement.

“I watched your presentation about those two minutes [against Brighton]. You’ve often been correct in your career, but in this instance, perhaps you weren’t fully aware of my preferences!” the Dutch coach remarked, eliciting laughter from Richards.

“Yes, Arne!” exclaimed the former Manchester City defender.

I appreciate the high pressing style as much as Jurgen did, and I believe that is one of the reasons Richard [Hughes] approached me; our playing philosophies align closely.

“I concur with you, Jamie, regarding the risk-reward aspect of ball possession. Perhaps we could afford to be more patient before playing the ball behind the defense,” Slot continues.

“However, our primary objective is to maintain a high press, which is evident in the moments you highlighted.”

Arne Slot is beginning to reveal his personality.

A lighthearted moment from Slot highlighted how his character is starting to emerge at Liverpool.

Having initially focused on securing results, the 46-year-old now seems to be settling into his role at the club.

While Slot will never replicate Jurgen Klopp, perhaps his victory over Xabi Alonso—who was initially viewed as the frontrunner to take over from Klopp—has bolstered his confidence.

Carragher enjoys a bit of playful banter, and it’s refreshing to see Arne engage with the outspoken Liverpool legend.
