Arsenal has been advised by a talkSPORT pundit to pursue a former £100 million star, as it would be a signing of utmost perfection.

According to Gabriel Agbonlahor, a pundit on TalkSPORT, Arsenal should make a move for a player who was once worth £100 million.

Agbonlahor believes that this player would be the perfect addition to Arsenal’s squad this summer. Despite Arsenal’s impressive goal-scoring performances in the 2023-2024 season, the club is still looking to sign a new attacker.

It seems that Edu, the club’s manager, is actively searching for attacking reinforcements for Mikel Arteta’s team. Arsenal had a successful season, finishing as the runners-up in the Premier League, with only Manchester City outscoring them.

However, Arsenal lacked a top-tier, natural number nine for a significant portion of the season. It is rumored that Gabriel Jesus and Eddie Nketiah may leave the club, which further emphasizes the need for a new forward.

Kai Havertz performed exceptionally well in a makeshift forward role, but the club still requires a permanent solution. In the 2023-2024 season, Arsenal’s top scorers in all competitions were Bukayo Saka with 20 goals, Leandro Trossard with 17 goals, Kai Havertz with 14 goals, Martin Odegaard with 11 goals, and Gabriel Jesus with 8 goals.

Jesus only managed to score four goals in his 27 Premier League appearances, while Nketiah scored the same amount in his 17 top-tier games.

Despite Arteta’s impressive performance in the absence of a prolific center-forward, Fabrizio Romano, a credible media source, supports the notion that Arsenal will acquire a significant new striker when the transfer window reopens on June 14. Recently, high-profile players like Napoli legend Victor Osimhen, RB Leipzig attacker Benjamin Sesko, and Bologna standout Joshua Zirkzee have been linked to the club.

Previously, Ivan Toney, a forward for Brentford, was also linked to Arsenal, but rumors of a potential transfer have diminished in recent months. As Toney’s contract expires next year, Thomas Frank’s team must now consider offers significantly lower than the £100 million they sought in January.

Pundit Gabriel Agbonlahor, who referred to Toney as the “perfect” addition for Arteta, urged Arsenal to pursue the player in a talkSPORT interview, as reported by The Boot Room.

In my opinion, Arsenal is in need of a striker. Isak has been discussed, but I doubt Newcastle will sell him.

Agbonlahor mentioned, “They’ll find someone else to sell to.” If given the opportunity, I would choose Isak. He is younger, faster, and can also play on the left if needed. However, if Ivan Toney is available, I believe he would be a suitable fit for Arsenal.

With players like Odegaard, Trossard, and Saka providing through-balls, Toney could thrive in the team.

He excels in the air, Toney does, and if Odegaard decides to play him alongside Saka, Declan Rice, Martinelli, and others, that transfer could prove to be successful.

The financial aspect of the deal, considering what he has achieved at Brentford and his current contract, seems reasonable. I believe he would be a valuable addition for both teams.

It will be interesting to observe whether the Gunners will reignite their interest in Toney following his impressive 20 league goals in the 2022-2023 season. His ability to come deep and connect play has even led to comparisons with Tottenham legend Harry Kane.
