Liverpool has received a promising prediction from Xavi Simons, as revealed by Virgil van Dijk, which has further bolstered their confidence during transfer negotiations.

Virgil van Dijk has shared his positive thoughts on Xavi Simons during their time together on international duty at Euro 2024.

The Liverpool captain has expressed his confidence in the young player, who has been rumored to be joining the Reds.

Liverpool is set to have a significant Dutch presence in the upcoming season, with their coach and captain both hailing from the Netherlands, along with two other key members of the team.

The history of Liverpool’s transfer dealings has shown a variety of nationalities being brought in.

While French and Spanish players were signed under Gérard Houllier and Rafael Benitez, respectively, there hasn’t been a strong German influence during Jürgen Klopp’s tenure.

It was a wise decision considering the performance of Loris Karius, his fellow countryman, in the 2018 Champions League final.

Upon his arrival at Anfield, new head coach Arne Slot will be greeted by a trio of Dutch players, one of whom has been discussing Xavi Simons, a Netherlands international who is rumored to be linked with Liverpool.

The Dutch squad for Euro 2024 features not only current and former Liverpool players, but also others who have been previously rumored to be of interest to the Reds, aside from Simons.

The current trio of Cody Gakpo, Ryan Gravenberch, and Virgil van Dijk are included, along with Gini Wijnaldum.

If you delve deep enough, you can probably find transfer stories related to Liverpool for every other player, but Memphis Depay, Jeremie Frimpong, Matthijs de Ligt, and Donyell Malen serve as prime examples.

Simons is simply the latest addition to the ongoing Dutch conveyor belt of transfer intrigue at Liverpool.

Van Dijk was far from pleased after his remarkable goal was disallowed in the Netherlands’ 0-0 stalemate against France on Friday night.

Denzel Dumfries’ offside position and interference with play resulted in the unfortunate ruling, leaving Van Dijk feeling unlucky.

“He stated that the goal we scored was indeed fair,” he expressed. “France goalkeeper Mike Maignan had absolutely no opportunity to reach that corner. However, the English referee made the decision to disallow it.”

Simons, on the other hand, has left a much greater impression on the Liverpool captain than Anthony Taylor. “He possesses immense talent and has a lot to offer,” van Dijk remarked (via BBC Sport).

“He still has the potential to improve even further, but his strong mindset assures me that he will achieve that. I have complete confidence in him.”

Bolo Zenden, the former Liverpool midfielder, also expressed his admiration for Simons in the same article. Zenden emphasized Simons’ exceptional style of play, attitude, pace, and skills during his time at PSV Eindhoven in the 2022/23 season when he was only 19 years old.

Zenden even remarked that Simons appeared to be a seasoned player. It is safe to say that it would be difficult to find a Dutch person who isn’t a fan of Simons.

Simons is receiving praise from various sources, and rightfully so. The fact that even van Dijk acknowledges his mentality speaks volumes, as it is just as important as his talent on the field.

Regardless of whether he joins Liverpool or not, Simons has undoubtedly garnered a significant fan base at Anfield and beyond.
