Arsenal is preparing to make a bid for Victor Gyokeres, the striker from Sporting Lisbon, who has expressed his desire to leave the club this summer due to interest from other clubs.

Victor Gyokeres has already stated his stance on the transfer before Arsenal’s $77.5m offer.

Gyokeres has already communicated his intentions to Arsenal regarding a potential transfer.

The Gunners have been heavily linked with the Sporting Lisbon forward this summer, with head coach Mikel Arteta looking to strengthen the team’s attacking options with a new striker for the upcoming 2024/25 Premier League season.

Gyokeres had an impressive record of 43 goals in 50 appearances, playing a crucial role in Sporting’s Primeira Liga title victory last season.

Despite only joining Portugal’s Sporting Lisbon a year ago from Coventry City, he is already being considered for another move.

According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Arsenal is preparing an initial bid for Gyokeres, ranging from £55 million ($70.1 million) to £60 million ($77.5 million). However, this offer falls short of the player’s £86 million ($111 million) release clause at Sporting.

The report indicates that Arsenal will submit the bid once Eddie Nketiah leaves the club, with Marseille being mentioned as a potential destination for the striker.

Chelsea is also reportedly interested in signing Gyokeres as an alternative to Napoli’s Victor Osimhen.

Speculation about Gyokeres’ future escalated earlier this summer following his successful season in Portugal, where he helped Sporting win the league title.

Amid rumors of a potential departure from the club, the striker has openly discussed his future plans.

Gyokeres expressed uncertainty about his future in football, emphasizing the unpredictability of the situation.

Despite his success last season, his transition to a top Premier League team would be considered risky due to his recent Championship background and age.

Gyokeres mentioned to Bola Na Rede in May after the end of the previous season that he cannot guarantee anything in football due to his contract.

He expressed contentment with his current situation and stated that he will not be disappointed if he remains. The player added that although he is pleased, the future remains uncertain.

He emphasized the unpredictability of the sport and mentioned that they will have to wait and see how the upcoming year unfolds, as there are still games left in the current season.

Signing Gyokeres would pose a significant risk for any top Premier League club.

Despite his impressive 43 goals last season, his recent transition from the Championship and his age of 26 make him a questionable investment for the future.
