Tottenham have been strongly linked with a move for Chelsea’s Conor Gallagher, and recent reports suggest that they may be able to secure his services for a significantly reduced fee of £50m during the upcoming summer transfer window.

Despite a successful January transfer window, which saw the arrival of Timo Werner on loan and the permanent signing of Radu Dragusin, Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou has expressed his desire to bolster his midfield options.

Gallagher has emerged as the primary target for Postecoglou, and negotiations have already taken place between Tottenham and Chelsea. However, both parties were unable to come to an agreement at that time.

Certain individuals within the Blues organization expressed a desire to offload the talented English player in order to alleviate the club’s financial concerns.

Nevertheless, Gallagher exhibited a strong determination to stay put at Stamford Bridge, and Mauricio Pochettino shared the same sentiment, hoping to retain him until the conclusion of the season, if not longer.

According to reports, Chelsea would have been open to considering offers in the vicinity of £80m for the 23-year-old, regardless of the circumstances.

Although Tottenham was initially reluctant to meet this hefty price tag for Gallagher, it appears that their patience may ultimately yield positive results.

Tottenham are set to make another attempt to sign Gallagher during the summer transfer window, as reported by Football Insider.

The club has reportedly engaged in extensive discussions with Chelsea regarding the midfielder and remains optimistic about securing his services.

It is believed that a fee of around £50m would be sufficient to finalize the deal, provided Gallagher does not extend his current contract, which is due to expire in 2025.

Gallagher has emerged as a key player for Chelsea under Pochettino, featuring in almost all of their Premier League games this season and even captaining the team on multiple occasions.

Gallagher possesses an impressive work rate and pressing ability, making him a valuable asset for Tottenham.

Additionally, his versatility to play in both the number eight and number 10 positions adds to his appeal. Given his young age, Gallagher could potentially become a lucrative long-term investment for Spurs.

With Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg expected to depart in the summer, Gallagher could be a suitable replacement, despite their contrasting playing styles.

Furthermore, if Tottenham secures qualification for the Champions League this season, it may further entice Gallagher to join the North London club. Currently, Tottenham sits in fifth place in the Premier League table, trailing fourth-placed Aston Villa by a mere two points.
