Salah says that football is ‘significantly different’ under Slot compared to Klopp following Liverpool’s victory over Ipswich – ‘I always try to help the team’ – Mohamed Salah speaks…
Salah expresses his thoughts on the evolution of Liverpool’s playing style.
Mohamed Salah remarked that football is ‘very different’ under Slot compared to Klopp following Liverpool’s victory over Ipswich.
“I always strive to assist the team,” Salah stated after Liverpool’s win at Portman Road.
Mohamed Salah acknowledged that the experience under new manager Arne Slot is “quite different” compared to that of his former coach Jurgen Klopp, following his standout performance in Liverpool’s 2-0 victory against Ipswich on the first day of the Premier League season at Portman Road.
Salah not only scored but also provided an assist, marking his ninth goal on an opening day, a record unmatched by any other player in the league.
He assisted Diogo Jota in scoring the first goal early in the second half, contributing to a commanding display by Liverpool.
I am pleased with our victory today; making a significant contribution to the team and securing the win is what truly matters, Salah expressed to TNT Sports after the match.
“I can’t explain why I tend to perform well on the opening day of the season, but I hope to maintain this form throughout the entire season, not just in the first match! My focus is always on supporting the team—winning is the priority.
” I aim to score goals and provide assists, and I intend to keep that momentum going.”
Liverpool started the match slowly, struggling to create any chances against a determined Ipswich team that had just been promoted from the Championship.
However, they found their rhythm in the second half, controlling much of the play in the latter 45 minutes.
“Facing a newly promoted team, especially on their home ground, is certainly challenging,” Salah noted. “It’s the first match of the season, and the club is always ready for it.
“With our extensive experience in the Premier League, we anticipated a difficult encounter.”
The match represented Arne Slot’s inaugural competitive match as Liverpool’s manager after Jurgen Klopp’s exit at the conclusion of the previous season.
Salah commented, “It’s a significant change. Jurgen was with us for eight years and dedicated himself fully.” He added, “With a new manager and a new system, we are facing a different situation.
We must adjust and gradually learn his style of play to fully enjoy our football. Our focus should be on playing well and enjoying our matches, and the results will follow.”
