Arsenal may see Saka starting, Timber rejoining the squad, and a modification in Partey’s position – three possible changes as they prepare to face Liverpool.

Arsenal faces a crucial match this Sunday afternoon as they host Liverpool at the Emirates Stadium, marking the most significant game of their season to date.

The stakes are clear: a victory would solidify their position in the title race, while a defeat could jeopardize their chances.

If Arne Slot’s team replicates their pre-season success against Arsenal, a seven-point gap could emerge, putting the Gunners in a challenging position.

Many view Arsenal as underdogs, primarily due to their recent form and ongoing injury concerns.

Riccardo Calafiori has joined the ranks of injured players, including Bukayo Saka, Takehiro Tomiyasu, Jurrien Timber, Kieran Tierney, and Martin Odegaard, after suffering a knee injury.

Given these circumstances, Mikel Arteta faces a significant challenge in selecting his lineup. While options may be limited, the return of some players could provide much-needed flexibility for the manager.

The defensive setup in front of David Raya presents a particular dilemma, especially with Calafiori’s absence.

The situation hinges on whether Jurrien Timber can pass late fitness tests and recover from his ongoing muscular issue.

If Timber is fit, his inclusion at left-back would be advantageous, particularly in containing Mohamed Salah.

With William Saliba sidelined, Ben White would shift to Saliba’s position, partnering with Gabriel Magalhaes in central defense.

Meanwhile, Thomas Partey would be tasked with filling the right-back role, a position that is not his preferred but necessary under the circumstances.

In midfield, Declan Rice and Mikel Merino will be responsible for dominating the center of the pitch.

Although Merino is still developing, he has demonstrated defensive strength and composure in high-stakes matches, such as those against PSG.

Leandro Trossard continues to be a key player, demonstrating greater effectiveness when positioned centrally. The absence of Odegaard is significantly felt, and there is hope for his swift return.

Similarly, Bukayo Saka, despite currently being uncertain regarding his fitness and availability, would certainly be included in the lineup if deemed fit. His presence is crucial in matches of this nature.

The forward line is completed by Gabriel Martinelli and Kai Havertz, with the objective of exploiting a Liverpool side that has yet to face serious challenges this season. Arteta would prefer to have more options at his disposal, but he must work with the resources available to him.

Revised Arsenal XI against Liverpool: Raya; Partey, White, Gabriel, Timber; Rice, Merino, Trossard; Saka, Havertz, Martinelli.
