Liverpool is in talks with Xabi Alonso for a three-year contract, with a €35m first signing already planned, according to reports.

Liverpool is making progress in securing Xabi Alonso as the replacement for the departing Jurgen Klopp.

Klopp revealed earlier this year that he will be leaving his position at the end of the season after nine successful years with the club, which included winning the Premier League and Champions League titles.

Alonso has swiftly emerged as the primary candidate for the club’s managerial position, as the 42-year-old has garnered a reputation as one of Europe’s most promising coaches while leading Bayer Leverkusen towards their first-ever Bundesliga title. However, Liverpool faces stiff competition from Bayern Munich, who are also in search of a new manager following the departure of Thomas Tuchel at the end of the current season.

In preparation for the post-Klopp era, Liverpool has taken significant steps forward this week. The club recently announced the appointment of former sporting director Michael Edwards as the new CEO of football for Fenway Sports Group.

Additionally, Richard Hughes, the outgoing technical director of Bournemouth, is expected to join as the new sporting director. It seems that an offer is on the table for Alonso, further intensifying Liverpool’s pursuit of the talented coach.

Teamtalk reported that Liverpool is preparing a three-year contract for the former Spain international manager to beat Bayern in the competition for his signature. Additionally, it is mentioned that Hoffenheim forward Max Beier is on Liverpool’s radar for a potential transfer this summer due to his impressive performance in the Bundesliga, where he has already scored 12 goals.

BILD stated that Alonso is a strong admirer of Beier, and Liverpool is considered the front-runners to secure the €35m-rated player.

Liverpool is finalizing a three-year contract for the ex-Spain international manager to outbid Bayern in the race for his services.

The report also indicates that Hoffenheim forward Max Beier is a potential transfer target for Liverpool this summer, following his remarkable season in the Bundesliga with 12 goals already.

BILD has reported that Alonso is a keen supporter of Beier, and Liverpool is leading the race to sign the €35m-rated talent.
