Report: Liverpool set to secure their first summer signing with a proven Premier League star…

Liverpool is reportedly on the verge of securing their first summer signing by bringing in a proven Premier League star.

The Reds, under the management of Arne Slot, are currently in discussions to finalize a deal with a player who has already showcased their talent in the English top-flight.

Since Slot took over as Liverpool’s manager in June, the club has been relatively quiet in the transfer market as they evaluate their squad for the upcoming 2024/25 season.

However, this could soon change as Liverpool aims to swiftly wrap up a significant transfer agreement.

Neto, who has been a subject of transfer speculation away from Wolverhampton Wanderers, has been linked with a move to Liverpool.

Despite Arsenal being previously mentioned as a potential destination, the Portuguese winger’s agent, Jorge Mendes, is reportedly pushing for a move to Anfield.

Since joining the Premier League in 2019, Neto has showcased his impressive dribbling abilities and speed.

Despite not being the most prolific winger, the 24-year-old has only scored 14 goals in 135 appearances for Wolves during his five seasons at the club.

After representing Portugal at Euro 2024, Neto has yet to join pre-season training, delaying any potential transfer deal for a few more days. Liverpool is eager to finalize the signing quickly, with Slot anticipating his first addition to the team.

With three years left on his contract, Liverpool is expected to pay around £60m for Neto.

Despite the high price, the winger still has room for growth and development under Slot. Transfermarkt values Neto at £50m.

Neto joining Liverpool is a potential move, but it appears that acquiring a left-winger is not a top priority for the team.

Liverpool already has Luis Diaz, Cody Gakpo, and Diogo Jota who can play in that position, so strengthening other areas of the squad would be more ideal.

However, signing Neto would demonstrate a strong commitment to improving the team.
