Liverpool is planning to pursue a “sensational” star and has taken the step of communicating with his agent.

The Liverpool management is exploring the possibility of signing a “sensational” player, with preliminary conversations already held with his agent.

Liverpool is reportedly considering a surprising move to acquire former Everton player Ademola Lookman this summer, as stated by journalist Graeme Bailey.

Atalanta, his current Serie A club, is reportedly asking for £51.1 million (€60 million) for his transfer, with Arsenal also showing interest.

As of now, new manager Arne Slot has yet to add any players to the squad this summer, taking over from Jurgen Klopp.

Many fans at Anfield are eagerly awaiting the announcement of the Dutchman’s first signing.

Notably, Liverpool is the only club among Europe’s top seven leagues that has not made a summer signing, following the collapse of a deal for Real Sociedad’s Martin Zubimendi.

The club has also been monitoring Valencia goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili.

Lookman is being considered by Liverpool executives as a potential first summer acquisition, with Arsenal and PSG also keeping an eye on his situation.

Having emerged from Charlton Athletic’s academy, Lookman joined Everton in January 2017 but struggled to make a significant impact during his 48 appearances at Goodison Park.

With only six goal contributions (four goals and two assists) during that period, the now-26-year-old moved to RB Leipzig, had loan spells at Fulham and Leicester City, and eventually signed with Atalanta.

Bailey, as reported by TEAMtalk, indicates that Liverpool and Arsenal are pursuing an ambitious transfer for the Nigerian international, who has netted 23 goals and provided six assists.

The report highlights that Liverpool made initial contact with Lookman’s representatives at the beginning of the summer transfer window and has been monitoring his situation closely, with Paris Saint-Germain and Arsenal also showing interest.

Lookman’s ability to play on either wing or just behind the main striker makes him an appealing target for potential suitors, including Liverpool.

Earlier this summer, Italian outlet Calciomercato reported that Manchester United, Liverpool’s primary competitors, were preparing a £50 million offer for the forward.

In addition, Liverpool is scouting Lutsharel Geertruida from Feyenoord.

With speculation surrounding Joe Gomez’s potential departure before the transfer window closes, Liverpool is keen on acquiring the 24-year-old, who previously played under Slot in the Netherlands.

HITC Sport reports that Liverpool, along with Manchester City and Aston Villa, dispatched scouts to observe Geertruida during his team’s opening match of the new season, considering a bid for his services.

The Rotterdam native has less than a year left on his contract, which may prompt his current club to sell him this summer to avoid losing him for free next year.

However, transfer expert Fabrizio Romano recently informed GIVEMESPORT that the defender, described as ‘technically secure’ and ‘aerially strong’ by analyst Ben Mattinson, is inclined towards a move to Villa Park this summer.
