Liverpool is making significant progress towards securing the signing of a £68.2 million talent.

Media reports suggest that Liverpool is preparing to part ways with Colombian international Luis Diaz during the upcoming summer transfer window.

Diaz’s father has expressed interest in Barcelona, mentioning that his son’s aspiration is to play for the Catalan giants.

If the Spanish media is to be believed, discussions are underway between Liverpool and Barcelona regarding a potential swap deal that would involve Luis Diaz and Raphinha.

According to the Catalan outlet Nacional, Liverpool representatives have traveled to Barcelona to finalize an agreement that would see Raphinha join the Premier League club in exchange for Diaz.

Raphinha, who played a pivotal role in Barcelona’s La Liga title victory during the 2022-23 season, made significant contributions last season, directly influencing 23 goals across all competitions under Xavi’s management.

In April, Sport reported that Barcelona had turned down a €60 million offer from the Premier League side, as they value the Brazilian winger at €80 million (£68.2 million).

With Lamine Yamal establishing himself as a key player on the right side, Raphinha’s role has diminished, prompting Barcelona to consider selling him to Liverpool.

The Catalan club is primarily focused on acquiring Luis Diaz after their attempt to secure Nico Williams for the left wing fell through, as Williams opted to remain with Athletic Bilbao.

At Anfield, Diaz is the preferred left winger, and should he depart, Cody Gakpo, who showcased his talent during the Euros, may step into the primary left wing position under manager Arne Slot.

Should Raphinha make the move to Liverpool, he would likely find himself as a backup to Mohamed Salah, the established right winger.

However, with Salah’s contract expiring in under a year, Liverpool will need to identify a top-tier replacement.

In your opinion, should Liverpool pursue the opportunity to sign Raphinha in exchange for Diaz?
