Liverpool reportedly has an arrangement to acquire a Serie A star at a bargain price next year.

An agreement is in place for Liverpool to secure a Serie A player in a cost-effective deal next year.

Trent Alexander-Arnold, the right back for Liverpool, is nearing the end of his contract, and with Real Madrid showing interest in him as a potential free agent next summer, his future at Anfield remains uncertain beyond this season.

Arne Slot may be anxious about the possibility of losing one of his key players on a Bosman transfer, but recent reports suggest that a replacement may already be in the works.

According to Caught Offside, Liverpool is believed to have reached an agreement with Denzel Dumfries of Inter Milan to bring him to Anfield on a free transfer next year.

Inter Milan is under the impression that their right back is not inclined to sign a contract extension, as he has reportedly agreed to join the Premier League club, with his current deal, like that of Alexander-Arnold, set to expire at the end of the season.

While the specifics of Liverpool’s offer to Dumfries remain to be detailed, the move appears financially feasible for the club.

Currently, he earns approximately £2.7 million annually with Inter, and even with a potential salary increase, he would likely fit comfortably within Liverpool’s wage structure.

Dumfries is well-suited to succeed Alexander-Arnold.

Acquiring Denzel Dumfries as a free agent would significantly ease Liverpool’s transition if Trent Alexander-Arnold departs after his contract ends.

In addition to the financial benefits, Dumfries possesses an offensive style that closely mirrors that of Alexander-Arnold.

He has frequently played as a wing back, demonstrating proficiency in the attacking phase while also being solid defensively, having been a key part of Inter’s defensive setup for several years.

One potential concern is Dumfries’ age, as he will turn 29 next summer, making him three years older than Alexander-Arnold.

However, he should still be able to provide Liverpool with three to four more years of high-level performance.

A potential transfer to Anfield for the former PSV Eindhoven player will depend significantly on the future of Alexander-Arnold.

Liverpool is committed to securing a long-term contract for their academy graduate. If these efforts do not succeed, Dumfries would serve as an excellent alternative available on a free transfer.
