Liverpool is reportedly targeting a player in the £46m-£49m range to fill the defender and midfielder slots immediately, according to the latest report.

Liverpool’s latest acquisition, Arne Slot, has reportedly urged the club to bolster their defensive and midfield positions without delay, with a potential signing in the range of £46m-£49m, according to a report by La Gazzetta dello Sport.

After Jurgen Klopp’s exit, Liverpool opted to appoint the Dutchman as his successor. Slot arrives at Anfield after a prosperous tenure at Feyenoord.

Despite this, the Reds have yet to make any new signings this summer, much to the disappointment of the supporters who have expressed their discontent on various social media platforms.

Now, Slot appears to be dissatisfied with the Reds’ relaxed approach to transfer dealings.

According to a recent article in La Gazzetta Dello Sport, the Dutch manager has promptly urged his superiors to bolster the defense and midfield after a 1-0 loss to Preston North End in a closed-door friendly match.

The report did not specify any potential signings that Liverpool might be considering for these positions.

GdS reports that Liverpool is also in the market for a new forward and initially had their sights set on Anthony Gordon from Newcastle United.

However, a deal did not come to fruition, leading them to now view Nico Williams as a ‘dream’ option.

Nevertheless, Williams has a release clause ranging from £46m-£49m and is demanding a substantial salary.

This makes him a costly choice for Liverpool. As a result, the Italian publication suggests that Galatasaray’s Baris Alper Yilmaz would be a more feasible target.

Liverpool FC has maintained a low profile during this transfer window, however, according to Romano, they have been actively working on strengthening their squad behind closed doors.

It is yet to be determined if they will step up their efforts to bring in new players in the upcoming days.
