Report: Arsenal positioned as favorites to land ‘talented’ player, poised to spend £45m…
Arsenal comes out on top in race to sign ‘talented’ player for £45m.
Arsenal appears to be on the verge of securing their initial signing for the summer.
Amidst much speculation about Arsenal’s potential addition of a new striker or midfielder to their squad this summer, it seems that Mikel Arteta’s first signing in this transfer window will be a new center-back.
In fact, there have been strong rumors linking Riccardo Calafiori with Arsenal in recent days, and it is reported that a deal to bring the Italian to north London is nearly finalized.
According to reports from Gazzetta, Arsenal has emerged as the winner in the race to sign Riccardo Calafiori, with the negotiations now finalized.
The deal is reported to have been settled at €53m (£45m), which is slightly lower than the initial figures that were circulating after Arsenal’s bid on Friday.
Despite facing competition from Chelsea, PSG, and Real Madrid, it appears that Calafiori is now on the verge of joining Arsenal.
As for where he fits into the team, the talented defender’s move to the Emirates will certainly be an interesting development to watch.
Gabriel Magalhaes’ position in the center-back role seems secure, however, there may be an opening at left-back.
Mikel Arteta appears to have lost faith in Oleksandr Zinchenko for that role, and Jakub Kiwior failed to make an impact at left-back last season.
Calafiori shares similarities with Josko Gvardiol and Nathan Ake as a center-back who can also play on the left, which aligns with Mikel Arteta’s preferences for that position.
The upcoming season will reveal where Calafiori fits in at Arsenal, with reports suggesting he will be the Gunners’ first summer signing, possibly announced in the coming days.
