Horner: Probe a ‘distraction’ but Red Bull remains focused | Formula 1
Red Bull team principal Christian Horner remains steadfast in his commitment to business as usual for his team, despite facing an ongoing investigation into his conduct.
Speaking to various media outlets, including RaceFans, during the unveiling of their new RB20 car today, Horner addressed the investigation publicly for the first time. The inquiry is being carried out by the team’s parent organization, headquartered in Austria.
Horner has vehemently denied the allegations against him. He recently engaged in extensive discussions with a company lawyer, but there is currently no specified timeline for the investigation’s conclusion.
In the meantime, the commencement of the upcoming season’s initial practice session is merely a fortnight away. Horner emphasized that despite the ongoing investigation, his unwavering focus remains on the team’s endeavors to safeguard the championships they clinched last year, alongside their exceptional driver, Max Verstappen.
“I am fully dedicated to the forthcoming season,” he affirmed. “Our operations have been proceeding as usual.
“Undoubtedly, I am actively cooperating and fully engaged in the ongoing investigation. Simultaneously, I am diligently preparing for the upcoming season.”
Horner acknowledged that there has been a slight distraction, but he emphasized that the team remains united and focused on the upcoming season.
Despite this distraction, the team has continued with their usual business and has received tremendous support. Red Bull is currently celebrating its 20th season in Formula 1, all under Horner’s leadership.
The team kicked off their launch by releasing a video that highlights their past successes and championship victories with drivers like Verstappen and Sebastian Vettel.
Despite speculation about his future, Horner made it clear that he is not considering the possibility of stepping down from his position anytime soon.
Horner, however, made it clear that he is not considering the possibility that his tenure as the team’s leader may soon be over.
“My main focus is on the upcoming year and the races that lie ahead,” he stated. “The entire team takes immense pride in our accomplishments over the past 19 seasons, but we are always looking forward rather than dwelling on the past.
“As we enter our 20th season, we can reflect on the significant milestones we have reached. There have been remarkable highs, a few setbacks, but overall, we have delivered exceptional performances.”
Horner assumed leadership of the team after Dietrich Mateschitz acquired the former Jaguar team from Ford.
Following Mateschitz’s passing in 2022, news of an investigation sparked rumors that Horner is now embroiled in a power struggle for control of the team.
However, Horner vehemently denied these speculations, emphasizing the unity within the team and the unwavering support they have received from shareholders.
He highlighted the significant investments made in powertrains and the future of Formula 1, underscoring the team’s commitment to success. Despite the circumstances, Horner reassured that it is business as usual for the team.
