The Premier League has initiated an investigation into David Coote following the leak of an alleged explicit rant directed at Liverpool.

The Premier League has initiated an investigation into David Coote following the emergence of a video that allegedly captures him making inappropriate remarks about Liverpool and their former manager, Jurgen Klopp.

The footage began circulating on social media on Monday, shortly after Coote officiated Liverpool’s 2-0 victory against Aston Villa at Anfield.

His officiating during the match has faced scrutiny, particularly regarding key decisions that contributed to Liverpool’s ascent to the top of the Premier League, thanks to goals from Darwin Nunez and Mohamed Salah.

In the video, Coote is seen conversing with another individual, reportedly using offensive language to refer to Liverpool and making derogatory comments about Klopp, who has led the team to Premier League and Champions League success.

Coote has been a referee in the Premier League since 2018, following an eight-year tenure officiating EFL matches.

The recent match between Liverpool and Aston Villa featured several contentious moments, including a controversial non-foul call on Mohamed Salah by Leon Bailey, despite Bailey being the last defender.

Additionally, Aston Villa had three penalty appeals denied, including incidents involving Ibrahima Konate and Ollie Watkins, as well as two claims from Pau Torres in the penalty area.

Liverpool, the Premier League, and the FA have been approached for their responses to this situation.
