Liverpool’s primary target to succeed Arne Slot following the surprising Jurgen Klopp development Liverpool’s troubling streak of results persisted on Wednesday night, intensifying the pressure on Arne Slot as the club’s management considers potential replacements, both for the short and long term. The Dutch manager is facing significant scrutiny after overseeing nine defeats in the last 12 matches. Slot achieved Premier League success in his debut season, but his second year has proven to be far more difficult, with mounting pressure. Slot asserts that he still has the support of the American owners; however, they are preparing for the worst and have identified the PSG manager as their preferred long-term candidate. The Spaniard has performed exceptionally in Paris, leading the French team to their first Champions League title last season. This achievement was part of a treble-winning campaign, marking the second time Enrique has accomplished this feat. He previously did so in 2015 while managing Barcelona, where he also secured the Champions League as part of the treble. Slot claims he has maintained communication with the club’s executives throughout this challenging period of results, which has arguably reached new lows this week. They were shocked at Anfield by Nottingham Forest on Saturday, suffering a 3-0 defeat, and things deteriorated further on Wednesday with a 4-1 Champions League defeat at home to PSV. The Sun reports that discussions have also occurred among Liverpool’s executives, who are increasingly worried that he is losing the support of the players.
