The Norway national team manager has released information about Martin Odegaard’s injury after he rejoined Arsenal.

Following his return to Arsenal, the manager of the Norwegian national team has given an injury update on Martin Odegaard.

Norway’s head coach, Stale Solbakken, has provided an update regarding Martin Odegaard’s injury following his return to Arsenal for further evaluation.

Odegaard sustained an ankle injury while on international duty. The Arsenal midfielder has traveled back to London for additional scans to assess the extent of the injury.

During Norway’s 2-1 victory over Austria on Monday night, Odegaard was forced to leave the match after suffering what was initially identified as a sprained ankle due to a challenge from Christoph Baumgartner.

He was seen using crutches as he boarded a flight back to London for a more comprehensive examination.

“I spoke with him late last night, but not today,” Solbakken mentioned to TV2 on Tuesday. “He is undergoing an MRI in London, so we won’t have any results until later this afternoon.”

Team doctor Ola Sand had previously indicated that an MRI would only be required if the initial scans did not yield clear results, leaving Odegaard awaiting a formal diagnosis on an injury that could potentially sideline him for several weeks.

Arsenal’s upcoming schedule includes matches against Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester City, along with their Champions League opener against Atalanta.

In the meantime, Baumgartner from Austria expressed his apologies to Odegaard via social media.

Baumgartner expressed, “I never intended to cause harm to such a talented player. I wish him a swift recovery and hope he returns even stronger.”

Martin Odegaard’s teammate from Norway is determined to seek retribution for their injured captain after witnessing the Arsenal star appear to sustain a significant injury.

During a challenge with Austria’s Christoph Baumgartner on Monday night, Odegaard seemed to twist his left ankle and immediately required medical assistance before being escorted off the field.

This incident poses a setback for both Norway and, more critically, Arsenal, who are facing challenging away matches against Tottenham, Atalanta, and Manchester City in the next 12 days, starting with their north London rivals on Sunday.

Odegaard has returned to Arsenal for an evaluation of his ankle, but his availability for Sunday’s match is highly uncertain.

Norway teammate Leo Skiri Ostigard has expressed his frustration towards Baumgartner.

“There were many unusual aspects to that situation,” he reportedly told NRK. “I would have preferred to confront the player who injured Ødegaard and show him what it feels like to receive a hit back.”

When asked to elaborate, Ostigard responded, “I won’t discuss that here.”

He was also questioned about the severity of Odegaard’s injury and acknowledged, “It doesn’t look very promising.”

He added, “We must sincerely hope for a quick recovery so that he can return to play for both Arsenal and our national team.”
