Mikel Arteta prefers Martin Zubimendi over Douglas Luiz for a specific reason – Report…

Mikel Arteta is leaning towards signing Martin Zubimendi instead of Douglas Luiz for a particular motive.

Mikel Arteta’s priority for Arsenal’s midfield reinforcement lies in signing Martin Zubimendi instead of Douglas Luiz.

Last weekend, Arsenal experienced an unexpected loss at home against Aston Villa, which was followed by their elimination from the Champions League after a 1-0 defeat against Bayern Munich.

These two matches clearly highlighted the need for Arsenal to strengthen various areas of their team during the upcoming summer transfer window, with particular emphasis on acquiring a new midfielder.

There is a possibility that Arsenal may find themselves in a precarious situation with limited options in midfield. This is due to the fact that Mohamed Elneny and Jorginho’s contracts will expire this summer, while Thomas Partey has been rumored to be considering a departure from the club.

The Gunners are currently lacking depth in the number six position, with only Declan Rice available. This is far from ideal, especially considering the number of games they will be playing this season.

To address this issue, Arsenal is in need of a new defensive midfielder, and one player who has been strongly linked with a move to the Emirates Stadium is Douglas Luiz.

However, according to GiveMeSport, Mikel Arteta is anticipating that Luiz will remain with Aston Villa and does not believe the Brazilian will push for a transfer if Unai Emery’s team finishes in their current fourth position.

As a result, Arsenal has shifted their focus to Martin Zubimendi. The report suggests that Arteta would prefer to have the Real Sociedad midfielder in his squad instead.

Zubimendi has been strongly associated with a transfer to Arsenal for a whole year, and according to Fabrizio Romano, Arteta and his coaching team apparently believe that he is an ideal fit for their squad.
