Mikel Arteta identifies the Arsenal player who will receive increased playing time this season.

Mikel Arteta has announced which Arsenal player will be granted more minutes on the pitch this season.

Following the match against Crystal Palace, Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta indicated that one player is poised for more minutes on the pitch.

Arteta announced that Gabriel Jesus is expected to see an uptick in his playing time this season after the Brazilian forward’s remarkable hat-trick led Arsenal to a 3-2 comeback victory over Crystal Palace in the Carabao Cup quarter-finals.

Despite falling behind early due to a goal from Jean-Philippe Mateta, Arsenal rallied in the second half, with Jesus playing a pivotal role in securing their place in the semi-finals.

This win not only bolstered Arsenal’s aspirations for silverware but also represented a crucial moment for the 27-year-old striker.

Prior to this match, Jesus had scored only once in his last 33 appearances for Arsenal across all competitions.

However, his three goals against Palace revitalized his confidence and highlighted his talent.

His first goal came in the 53rd minute, set up by a precise pass from substitute Martin Ødegaard.

Jesus skillfully maneuvered past Marc Guehi before delicately chipping the ball over Palace goalkeeper Dean Henderson.

He quickly added a second goal, linking up with Bukayo Saka, another impactful substitute. A swift turn followed by a precise shot into the far corner demonstrated Jesus’ sharpness.

The hat-trick was completed in the 69th minute, as Jesus broke free and calmly slotted in his third goal, igniting excitement among the Emirates crowd.

In his post-match comments, Arteta commended Jesus for his outstanding performance and suggested that the striker would play a more significant role in the upcoming matches.

“I’m very happy for him,” Arteta stated to Sky Sports. “He has endured a long stretch without scoring, and today he netted three fantastic goals.

The way he created and converted those opportunities illustrates the quality he adds to the team.

“This could be a pivotal moment for his confidence and the team’s faith in him.

“The focus now is on consistency, and we need to provide him with more games and opportunities to maintain this momentum.”

Arteta emphasized the importance of various squad members, particularly Kieran Tierney, who made his first start for Arsenal in 548 days.

Although Jesus delivered an impressive performance, the Gunners faced a tense conclusion when former Arsenal forward Eddie Nketiah scored a late goal for Palace.

Nevertheless, Arteta’s team remained resilient, ensuring their second appearance in the Carabao Cup semi-finals in three years.

With their aspirations for the cup still alive, Arsenal will now turn their attention to the Premier League.

They are set to meet Crystal Palace again, this time at Selhurst Park, for a London derby on Saturday.
