Mikel Arteta faces injury concerns with two Arsenal players missing from training ahead of the upcoming clash with Nottingham Forest…
Mikel Arteta is worried about injuries as two Arsenal players were not present in training sessions leading up to the Nottingham Forest game.
Concerns arise for Mikel Arteta as two Arsenal players were absent from training ahead of the match against Nottingham Forest.
On Thursday, Bukayo Saka and Leandro Trossard were not seen participating in training, raising doubts about their availability for the Premier League fixture on Saturday.
Arteta’s team is eager to secure their first victory in four league matches following a disappointing run before the international break.
The Gunners recently played to a 1-1 draw against title contenders Chelsea, with goals from Gabriel Martinelli and Pedro Neto.
Both Saka and Trossard missed time during the international break, and their absence from Thursday’s training session could pose a significant challenge for Arteta.
Regarding Bukayo Saka, the England international sustained an injury during the match against Chelsea, which led to his withdrawal from Lee Carsley’s England squad, alongside teammate Declan Rice.
Initially, Saka was expected to recover in time for Saturday’s encounter, but uncertainty now surrounds his fitness.
While Saka has been in recovery, there are growing concerns about his ability to compete against a formidable Nottingham Forest side that shares the same points total as Arsenal.
Prior to the international break, Arteta commented on the situation involving Saka and Rice, stating, “It doesn’t look good because two players of that importance tell you that they cannot continue in the game, so it obviously isn’t good news.”
Leandro Trossard’s Injury Update.
The Belgian international was forced to exit the latter stages of Belgium’s Nations League match against Israel due to a knock sustained during the game.
Initially believed to be a minor issue, Trossard’s absence from training on Thursday raises concerns that the injury may be more serious than first anticipated.
While he is not expected to be sidelined for an extended period, his ability to regain full fitness in time for Saturday’s match against Nottingham Forest remains uncertain.
Additional Injury Concerns for Arsenal
Arsenal faces potential challenges beyond the absences of Saka and Trossard for the upcoming match, as up to four additional players may also be unavailable, posing a significant setback for Arteta.
Ben White and Takehiro Tomiyasu have already been confirmed as out due to injuries that are likely to keep them off the pitch until December.
Riccardo Calafiori’s return is also in question following a knee injury sustained during the Gunners’ 1-0 victory over Shakhtar Donetsk in the Champions League.
He is working towards regaining full fitness for the weekend, but his readiness remains uncertain.
Additionally, Declan Rice is also a doubt, having missed international duty with England due to a toe injury.
Although it is anticipated to be a minor issue, it has yet to be confirmed whether he will be fit to participate on Saturday.
