Michael Beale has discussed being fired by Sunderland.

The former manager of Rangers was dismissed by Sunderland after only 12 matches in charge, despite signing a two-and-a-half year contract in December. He experienced defeat in half of his games while leading the Black Cats, including a 3-0 loss to bitter rivals Newcastle United in the FA Cup at home.

His appointment as the successor to Tony Mowbray was met with skepticism, and ironically, Mowbray was present on the touchline for Beale’s final match, which ended in a 2-1 defeat to Mowbray’s Birmingham City.

Beale has now issued a statement expressing his gratitude to various members of the board. He specifically acknowledged the fans for their touching gesture during the match against Plymouth, stating, “I am disappointed to have departed Sunderland after a brief tenure at the club. I would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the players, who were a pleasure to work with.

The squad possesses immense potential, and I will closely follow their progress in the upcoming weeks and months.

“I would also like to express my appreciation to all the staff, both at the training ground and the Stadium of Light, for their exceptional work and friendship.

“The communication with Kyril, Kristjaan, and the board was consistently open and honest, and I want to sincerely thank them for their support during a challenging personal period.

“To the fans – I want to express my gratitude for the support shown to me and my family during the recent game against Plymouth Argyle. Your immense empathy and warmth in that moment will forever remain in my memory.

“I wish everyone associated with Sunderland AFC the very best for the future.”
