Martin Odegaard speaks out about his ‘bad’ injury and shares the latest news with Arsenal fans.

Arsenal captain Martin Odegaard has provided an update regarding his recent ankle injury, which he described as ‘bad’ and resulting in ligament damage.

He expressed optimism about his recovery, stating that he is already ‘making progress’ as he works towards returning to the pitch.

Odegaard has been absent from Arsenal’s last three matches, including the north London derby and a crucial encounter against Manchester City, following the injury he sustained during Norway’s victory over Austria earlier this month.

The 26-year-old had to leave the field during the Nations League match, and subsequent examinations revealed significant ligament damage, as noted by Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta.

While the club has not disclosed a specific timeline for Odegaard’s return, reports indicate that he may be out of action for approximately eight weeks.

In his program notes ahead of Arsenal’s Carabao Cup match against Bolton Wanderers on Wednesday, Odegaard addressed his injury for the first time.

“It’s been a while since my last program notes, so I thought I would start with the latest on my injury,” he remarked.

“I experienced a severe twist to my ankle, resulting in ligament damage, but such setbacks are part of football. My focus now is on recovering as swiftly as possible.”

He added, “I am making progress and feeling increasingly positive each day. I am dedicated to my rehabilitation, and my primary goal is to return to the team as soon as I can.”

Arteta acknowledged last week that managing without Odegaard would pose a significant challenge for his squad, which is aiming to compete for the title and secure a place in the Champions League.

The scan revealed some damage to the ligaments in the ankle, which means we will be without him for a period of time, the Spaniard stated.

“It’s a significant issue, so we will be missing him for a while. Hopefully, it won’t be for months.”

Regarding Odegaard’s impact on the Arsenal squad, Arteta remarked, “He is our captain and has been one of the standout players in our lineup.

“Our team’s identity is closely tied to his style of play and demeanor. This presents a significant challenge for us to demonstrate our adaptability.”

Arsenal has managed to perform well in Odegaard’s absence, securing a victory against north London rivals Tottenham away and earning a draw against Premier League champions Manchester City last weekend.
