Manager confirms that it will take several months for the recovery of the ‘incredible’ Liverpool talent following a painful injury setback…
A significant injury setback has been confirmed for a Liverpool player, who will be sidelined for the rest of the calendar year.
According to the manager, the recovery period for the unfortunate injury sustained by the exceptional Liverpool player will extend over the next few months.
Manager Arne Slot is already facing challenges with multiple absences in his squad, including Alisson Becker, Diogo Jota, Conor Bradley, Federico Chiesa, and Harvey Elliott, all of whom will miss tonight’s Champions League match against RB Leipzig.
While there is optimism that many of these players will return soon, one young talent who had been on loan will not see the pitch again until 2025.
Luke Chambers faces a tough injury situation.
Luke Chambers, who joined Wigan on a season-long loan in August, has been informed by manager Shaun Maloney that the 20-year-old will return to Liverpool for rehabilitation due to a back injury that is expected to keep him out for an extended period.
Maloney expressed his disappointment (via Wigan Today): “Luke has a back injury, and the prognosis isn’t looking good.
We received this news yesterday, and he will be out for a significant amount of time. It’s not just weeks; it will be months… likely into the New Year.
“He won’t require surgery, but he will head back to Liverpool tomorrow for his rehabilitation. The specialists will take over from there… it’s truly unfortunate for him.
“There seems to be a history with this issue over the past two or three years; it’s not a recent development or a result of a specific impact injury.
It’s a real disappointment because he was performing exceptionally well for us; he’s probably been our standout player this season.”
A tough break for Chambers.
Chambers has faced an unfortunate injury setback, especially after establishing himself in Wigan’s starting lineup and thriving at the DW Stadium, as highlighted by Maloney’s remarks.
A year ago, the defender made his debut for Liverpool, contributing to a Europa League victory against Toulouse.
Trent Alexander-Arnold praised him as “a truly remarkable player” with “significant potential” (TNT Sports, via GOAL).
Concerns about back injuries are particularly significant at a young age, as there is a legitimate worry that such issues could affect the player’s career long-term.
It is hoped that Chambers will receive the necessary treatment upon returning to Merseyside and can resume playing soon.
Additionally, there is a desire that this does not turn into a persistent issue in the future.
