A target for Manchester City has informed Liverpool that he will choose to join them if they meet his £50 million valuation.

A player on Manchester City’s radar has conveyed to Liverpool that he will join their squad if they are willing to match his £50 million price tag.

£50 million defender indicates willingness to move to Liverpool despite interest from Manchester City

Liverpool has received a significant boost in their quest to acquire a new defender, as reports suggest he has expressed a willingness to transfer to Anfield, prioritizing them over Manchester City.

Liverpool on the verge of a squad transformation.

In many respects, Arne Slot’s initial achievements at Liverpool can be seen as the final chapter for a team facing uncertain futures.

Andy Robertson has started to lose his position in the Premier League starting lineup, while Alisson’s successor has already been secured in Valencia goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili, who is set to join Anfield in July 2025.

Additionally, there are pressing contract issues, with Virgil van Dijk, Trent Alexander-Arnold, and Mohamed Salah all approaching the end of their current agreements at the season’s conclusion.

While Van Dijk appears to be the most likely to remain, his future is not assured, and both Alexander-Arnold and Salah are anticipated to depart the club on free transfers, allowing them to enter pre-contract negotiations with other clubs across Europe as early as next month.

To maintain their position at the top of the Premier League beyond this season, Liverpool will need to make reinforcements, and in this context, they have received encouraging news.

Liverpool emerges as the preferred choice for £50 million defender.

Recent reports indicate that Liverpool will be the favored destination for Bayer Leverkusen defender Jeremie Frimpong, provided they meet his asking price in the forthcoming transfer windows.

Frimpong has gained recognition under Xabi Alonso at the Bay Arena after developing his skills with Manchester City.

This season, he has already contributed to nine goals across all competitions, following an impressive total of 26 last season.

Numerous clubs, including Liverpool, took notice of his performance over the summer, yet none chose to activate his €40m (£34m) release clause, which has since lapsed. As a result, clubs will now need to offer a higher fee to acquire his services.

Recently, he has resurfaced as a target for Manchester City, particularly due to the performance and age of Kyle Walker.

However, Liverpool has been given renewed optimism in their pursuit of outmaneuvering the current Premier League champions for a potential deal.

According to Sky Sports journalist Sacha Tavolieri, Frimpong has “already expressed his willingness to join Liverpool” in the future.

Reports suggest that “ongoing discussions have been occurring” with Frimpong’s representatives “for several weeks,” and the player has signaled his readiness for a move to Anfield.

Nevertheless, this transfer can only proceed if Liverpool can negotiate a fee with Leverkusen.

With the release clause no longer applicable, it is reported that the German club is seeking around €60m (£50m) for their valued defender.

While the German side “has not yet received an official bid from the Reds,” an offer could be forthcoming as Liverpool prepares for a future without Trent Alexander-Arnold. Although Frimpong plays a different style, he might just be the ideal replacement.
