Jurgen Klopp is set to shed light on the extent of Trent Alexander-Arnold’s persistent knee injury during his press conference at the AXA Training Centre on Friday morning.

This upcoming briefing holds great significance, especially following the recent announcement that Alexander-Arnold will be sidelined for the League Cup final due to his injury.

Jurgen Klopp is set to provide an update on the seriousness of Trent Alexander-Arnold’s recurring knee injury during his media appearance at the AXA Training Centre on Friday morning.

The Liverpool manager will hold his regular press conference ahead of the Premier League match, but this briefing holds particular significance following the recent news that Alexander-Arnold will be unable to participate in the League Cup final later this month due to his injury.

The 25-year-old initially suffered the knee injury during the FA Cup victory against Arsenal last month, but he returned to action against Norwich City on January 28. Unfortunately, Alexander-Arnold was substituted at half-time during the 3-1 win over Burnley on Saturday and is expected to be out of action until early March.

Liverpool’s No.66 has become the most recent casualty in Klopp’s squad, as both Thiago Alcantara and Dominik Szoboszlai have experienced setbacks in their recovery and are unlikely to participate in the upcoming match against Chelsea at Wembley.

However, before the Wembley encounter, Liverpool will face Brentford in a Premier League clash on Saturday afternoon. This presents an opportunity for Liverpool to extend their lead over Manchester City to nine points, prior to City’s evening kick-off against Chelsea.

Trent Alexander-Arnold

Trent Alexander-Arnold’s knee injury has resurfaced, as confirmed by Klopp in his post-match interview after the victory against Burnley. Klopp mentioned that Alexander-Arnold got his knee stuck in the grass, leading to the recurrence of the injury.

The team will now have to assess the situation and send him for further evaluation. Although the injury is not severe, Alexander-Arnold still feels discomfort, prompting the decision to substitute him. Klopp is anticipated to provide a more detailed update on Friday morning.

Mohamed Salah

Mohamed Salah has been absent from Liverpool’s lineup since the beginning of January because of his participation in the Africa Cup of Nations and subsequent hamstring problem. Following his withdrawal from Egypt’s match against Ghana on January 18, Salah has been receiving treatment and recovering in Merseyside.

However, on Tuesday, Salah finally joined Liverpool’s training session after almost six weeks, suggesting that he will probably be included in the upcoming game against Brentford on Saturday.

Anticipated comeback: February 17.

Dominik Szoboszlai

Dominik Szoboszlai suffered a hamstring injury during the New Year’s Day victory over Newcastle United. However, he made a comeback in the starting lineup for the thrashing of Chelsea at the end of January. Unfortunately, just hours before the Arsenal game on February 4, it was evident that Szoboszlai had experienced a recurrence of the same muscle injury.

As a result, he is expected to be sidelined for a period of time. It remains uncertain whether he will be fit for the League Cup final against Chelsea on February 25. In a recent update, Klopp mentioned that Szoboszlai has had long-term problems in the past but has been able to play since joining Leipzig. However, his patience is being tested with this injury.

While he is currently running outside, it is still unclear when he will fully recover. The team will continue to monitor his progress. As of now, the expected return date is unknown.

Thiago Alcantara

Thiago Alcantara made a late appearance as a substitute in the 3-1 loss to Arsenal earlier this month, marking his first game since April. Unfortunately, the midfielder has now suffered a new hamstring injury, adding to his misfortune.

Jurgen Klopp expressed his concern, stating, “Thiago is not in a good situation. During training, everything seemed absolutely fantastic. They showcased some impressive moments on LFC TV, but unfortunately, things took a turn.”

“We had planned to include him in the Arsenal match to give him a few minutes on the field, but then he experienced a muscle issue. We are uncertain about the severity of the injury and will have to wait for further updates. This is definitely not good news for Thiago, our team, or anyone involved.”

Expected return date: Currently unknown.

Stefan Bajcetic

Stefan Bajcetic’s time at Anfield has been marked by a challenging period due to various injury setbacks. Despite a promising debut season, his progress was cut short when he experienced a stress response in his adductor in March.

Although Bajcetic made a comeback in September, featuring in the Carabao Cup and Europa League, his involvement was unfortunately halted once again due to a calf problem during the LASK Linz match. The exact timeline for his return to full training remains uncertain.

Projected return date: Undetermined.

Joel Matip

Joel Matip, a 32-year-old centre-back for Liverpool, is currently recovering from surgery due to an anterior cruciate ligament injury. Unfortunately, this injury is expected to keep him out for the remainder of the season.

Matip sustained the injury during a Premier League match against Fulham in December, after an off-the-ball incident in the 70th minute. As of now, there is no confirmed date for his return to the field.

Ben Doak

Ben Doak is currently sidelined due to a severe knee injury he suffered while playing for the under-21s. Assistant manager Pep Lijnders expressed concern over Doak’s condition, stating that he has torn his lateral meniscus and will require surgery.

Unfortunately, the recovery process for this type of injury is expected to be lengthy. However, Lijnders remains optimistic about Doak’s comeback, highlighting his youth, fitness, and positive attitude. The team is eagerly awaiting his return and hopes that he will regain the same level of passion and skill he had before the injury. As of now, the expected return date remains unknown.
