Liverpool’s dream attack: FSG agrees to record fee for £50m Salah replacement, Klopp flop axed…

Liverpool’s Arne Slot is looking to shake up his attacking lineup this summer in order to create his ideal front three.

Arne Slot has yet to make any new signings for Liverpool, but he has his sights set on one particular player: Napoli’s Victor Osimhen.

Despite interest from top clubs across Europe, Osimhen remains with Napoli due to the club’s high asking price.

Napoli owner Aurelio De Laurentiis is reportedly seeking a fee in excess of £110million for the 25-year-old, which would set a new club record for Liverpool.

Under FSG’s ownership, Liverpool is no longer hesitant to spend big, and they are prepared to provide Slot with the necessary funds to strengthen the squad following Jurgen Klopp’s departure.

Liverpool’s new manager has yet to secure any signings since taking over, but acquiring Osimhen, who netted 15 goals in 25 Serie A matches last season, would demonstrate their serious intent following Klopp’s emotional departure.

The Nigerian forward is enticed by the prospect of joining Liverpool. Reports from October 2023 suggested he was on the verge of extending his contract until Liverpool intervened, presenting him with an enticing offer. Osimhen has since expressed his desire to depart from Stadio Diego Armando Maradona.

One potential obstacle could be PSG’s ongoing negotiations with Napoli for Osimhen. However, the French club has hesitated to meet the high asking price, leaving an opportunity for Liverpool to swoop in.

Liverpool is not accustomed to splurging on hefty transfer fees, so they may need to offload players to fund a move for Osimhen. This could involve putting up Darwin Nunez for sale at £85m, who has struggled to make an impact since Klopp signed him in 2022.

The Uruguayan player has showcased his exceptional skills while representing his national team at the Copa America.

However, his performance in the Premier League, with only 20 goals in 65 appearances, falls short in terms of value for money.

In contrast, Erling Haaland has scored 43 more goals during the same period, despite playing one additional game.

Upon his arrival from Benfica, the 25-year-old was known for his goal-scoring abilities and physical attributes that suited the Premier League.

Despite this, Nunez has struggled to make an impact, often being deployed on the left wing or as a substitute.

According to a report from Corriere Dello Sport in May, the new manager Slot reportedly preferred signing Osimhen over Nunez.

It remains uncertain if this stance has changed following pre-season, but finding a buyer for Nunez, especially outside of Saudi Arabia, might be challenging unless there is interest from PSG.

Furthermore, there is an ongoing dilemma concerning Mohamed Salah. With only one year remaining on his contract, the 31-year-old might leave Liverpool on a free transfer in 2025 if he is not sold this summer.

Liverpool is currently strategizing for this situation, and Slot might seek advice from one of his players on who could potentially fill in for Salah in the long run.

Wataru Endo has expressed his support for his Japanese national teammate Takefusa Kubo, who is reportedly in advanced discussions with the club.

According to a report from Japanese source Sponichi, negotiations between Kubo’s representatives and Liverpool are nearing completion, with the Reds willing to activate the winger’s £50m release clause to secure his services from Real Sociedad.

Endo further fueled speculation about Kubo’s potential transfer by mentioning him as the Japanese player he would like to see at Anfield. He stated, “Kubo.”

The midfielder went on to say, “The quest for a replacement for Mohamed Salah has commenced, making it a crucial area for Liverpool to reinforce.

I believe Kubo could be the player to step in for him, especially considering their national team connection.”

Liverpool fans may have their sights set on Vinicius Junior or Kylian Mbappe, but Real Madrid considers both players essential.

However, Fubo, a skillful left-footed winger known for his goal-scoring and playmaking abilities, could be the ideal replacement if Salah leaves.
