Liverpool’s £100 million double deal is picking up pace as Edwards intensifies efforts to sign the Argentine star; Brighton player expresses ambition to join Man City.

The £100m dual Liverpool agreement gains momentum as Edwards steps up efforts to secure the Argentine sensation; Brighton player discloses aspirations of joining Manchester City.

Liverpool’s pursuit of new signings from Serie A and the Primeira Liga is progressing, with reports suggesting that the club’s sporting director, Michael Edwards, is stepping up his efforts to secure an Argentine star.

Meanwhile, a Brighton forward has expressed his desire to play for Manchester City. In other news, Chelsea is said to be interested in signing a player from Paris Saint-Germain.

Liverpool’s hopes of signing Juventus’ Federico Chiesa have received a significant boost, as the Reds have reportedly intensified their pursuit of the talented winger.

Chiesa has been a long-term target for Liverpool, who are looking to bolster their attacking options and plan for the future without Mo Salah.

Despite previous speculation, Chiesa has remained at Juventus thus far.

Juventus has been engaged in contract negotiations with Chiesa, a versatile player who can operate as a left winger, right winger, or centre-forward.

His current contract is set to expire in June 2025. The Italian club has been determined to secure Chiesa’s future and put an end to any speculations about his departure.

However, recent reports from Italy suggest that talks between the two parties have reached an impasse, indicating a growing possibility of Chiesa’s departure this summer.

Liverpool has taken notice of this situation, especially after Juventus was compelled to lower their asking price for the 26-year-old player.

Previously valued at over £50 million, Liverpool now has the opportunity to strike a deal for just €25 million (£21 million).

This significant reduction in price allows Liverpool to save a substantial amount of money in their pursuit of the talented Italian player.

Not only will this benefit Liverpool financially, but it will also aid in their efforts to enhance their midfield.

Additionally, Liverpool has recently initiated discussions with Porto regarding the acquisition of Alan Varela, a promising 22-year-old midfielder.

Journalist Eduardo Burgos, renowned for his expertise in South American football, has reported that Liverpool executives Michael Edwards and Richard Hughes have intensified their interest in Varela.

The versatile Argentina U23 international, capable of playing as a No 6 or No 8, has also attracted attention from Arsenal and Newcastle United.

However, Liverpool is determined to secure Varela’s signature ahead of their Premier League rivals. The club aims to reach an agreement for Varela’s transfer before anyone else.

Varela’s current contract with Porto includes a significant release clause of €70m (£60m), which presents the possibility of Liverpool acquiring both him and Chiesa in a combined deal worth £81m.

Edwards and Hughes will make efforts to persuade Porto to lower their asking price for Varela.

Chelsea is reportedly interested in PSG winger Ousmane Dembele, a player they previously scouted before his time at Barcelona.

Galatasaray has also shown interest in Tottenham Hotspur full-back Emerson Royal, who has been given permission to leave by Ange Postecoglou.

Barcelona and Bayern Munich are both eyeing a move for Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes, while Saudi club Al-Nassr could potentially make a €150m bid to pair Fernandes with his Portugal teammate Cristiano Ronaldo.
