Liverpool XI vs Brighton: Team News, Lineup Update, and Injury Update for Premier League Match Today

Liverpool’s starting lineup against Brighton has been confirmed, with Jurgen Klopp’s team potentially benefiting from the return of some players. However, there are still uncertainties surrounding certain players due to injuries.

Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool team could receive a boost with the return of several players, although there are still some uncertainties.

Darwin Nunez is set to make a comeback for today’s match against Brighton, which will be a welcome addition for the Reds. However, it remains uncertain whether Andy Robertson will be able to play.

Nunez suffered a hamstring injury during the heartbreaking FA Cup quarter-final defeat against Manchester United at Old Trafford two weeks ago. As a result, he had to withdraw from the Uruguay squad for their international friendlies against the Basque Country and Ivory Coast.

Nevertheless, the talented player has been back in training at Kirkby this week and is expected to be included in the lineup at Anfield. This match could prove to be crucial in the Premier League title race, as Liverpool’s rivals Manchester City and Arsenal will also face each other at the Etihad Stadium later in the afternoon.

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp provided an update on Nunez’s progress, stating that he completed his rehabilitation during the week and has been fully training since then. This is positive news for Liverpool as they prepare to face Brighton.

In addition to Nunez, Liverpool will also have Luis Diaz, Cody Gakpo, and Ibrahima Konate available for selection. Despite recent injury concerns, Diaz and Gakpo have recovered from groin and ankle issues respectively, while Konate has returned from international duty with France after overcoming a thigh problem.

However, there is a new fitness concern for Robertson, who injured his ankle while playing for Scotland against Northern Ireland. Fortunately, the injury is not believed to be serious, and he will be assessed ahead of the upcoming match against Brighton.

If Robertson is unable to play, Joe Gomez is the likely candidate to fill in at left-back, allowing Conor Bradley to return on the right side of defense.

On a positive note, Ryan Gravenberch could make his first start since the Carabao Cup final, as he has recovered from an ankle injury sustained against Chelsea at Wembley. This will provide a boost to Liverpool’s midfield options.

Curtis Jones could provide another option in the midfield if he returns from his ankle injury. Trent Alexander-Arnold and Diogo Jota are also close to being fully fit and are expected to make their comebacks early next month.

However, Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp still has several players unavailable due to injuries, including Alisson Becker, Thiago Alcantara, Ben Doak, and Joel Matip. Stefan Bajcetic is gradually regaining his fitness with the Under-21s after a lengthy absence due to injury.

The predicted Liverpool starting XI for the upcoming match is Kelleher; Bradley, Van Dijk, Konate, Gomez; Szoboszlai, Mac Allister, Gravenberch; Salah, Nunez, Diaz. There are doubts surrounding the availability of Robertson and Jones.

The injuries include Alexander-Arnold, Alisson, Jota, Thiago, Bajcetic, Doak, and Matip. The match is scheduled for 2pm BST on Sunday, March 31, 2024, at Anfield.
