Liverpool XI lineup against Brentford: Nunez in for Luis Diaz; Jota ruled out with 4 changes as Liverpool change to the front three of Salah, Cody Gakpo and Darwin Nunez…
Liverpool’s starting XI for the match against Brentford features Darwin Nunez replacing Luis Diaz, while Diogo Jota is sidelined. The team has made four adjustments, shifting to a front three consisting of Mohamed Salah, Cody Gakpo, and Darwin Nunez.
Darwin Nunez is set to take the place of Luis Diaz in Liverpool’s starting eleven for their match against Brentford at the Gtech Community Stadium on Saturday.
Liverpool’s recent performances have been underwhelming, and manager Arne Slot is expecting a strong response from his squad.
The team has drawn their last two matches against Manchester United and Nottingham Forest, and with Arsenal gaining ground, the league leaders must avoid further dropped points.
The upcoming fixture against Brentford promises to be challenging.
Liverpool must elevate their performance to secure all three points, especially considering Brentford’s recent ability to hold Manchester City to a draw, showcasing their potential to create difficulties for Liverpool.
Additionally, Liverpool will be without Joe Gomez and Diogo Jota for this match.
Gomez has been out for some time due to a significant injury, while Jota appears to have sustained a minor issue after netting a crucial equalizer against Nottingham Forest in their previous outing.
Slot provided insights on Jota’s condition during his pre-match press briefing.
The Liverpool manager remarked, “Jota is undoubtedly a key player for us, but he was absent from training yesterday, so we need to assess his status today.
His availability for tomorrow remains uncertain, and we will have to wait for further updates.”
“He experienced a slight discomfort when he came on at the City Ground, a minor niggle during his half-hour appearance.
Although he completed the match, he reported some issues afterward, which is why he missed training yesterday. We will evaluate his condition today and determine if he can participate tomorrow.”
Liverpool is set to adopt their familiar 4-2-3-1 formation for the match against Brentford, with Alisson Becker guarding the goal. The full-back positions will be occupied by Trent Alexander-Arnold and Andrew Robertson, who are expected to contribute defensively and offensively. Ibrahima Konate will partner with club captain Virgil van Dijk in central defense.
In midfield, Alexis Mac Allister and Ryan Gravenberch will provide creativity and stability. Dominik Szoboszlai will operate in the attacking midfield role, bringing energy and inventiveness to the team. On the flanks, Mohamed Salah and Luis Diaz will offer pace, skill, and goal-scoring potential. Darwin Nunez is anticipated to spearhead the attack in the absence of Jota.
The lineup will be: Alisson; Alexander-Arnold, Konate, van Dijk, Robertson; Gravenberch, Mac Allister; Salah, Szoboszlai, Diaz; Nunez.
