Here’s our Liverpool FC transfer news recap for Saturday, 29 June. The Reds have been in discussions for Anthony Gordon.

Some significant updates on Saturday as Liverpool were reportedly in negotiations for Newcastle United’s Anthony Gordon.

Additionally, Jarell Quansah was also involved in the discussions.

LIVERPOOL IN TALKS FOR GORDON

Liverpool are currently in discussions with Newcastle United regarding Anthony Gordon – however, there seems to be a sticking point causing the Reds to step back.

According to The Daily Mail, Liverpool engaged in talks with Newcastle United this week regarding a potential transfer for Anthony Gordon.

The English star has expressed his admiration for the club and his desire to play for them.

Gordon is aware of the talks, but there is no pressure from him to force a sale from Newcastle.

It is believed that he would be open to a move to Anfield, despite his history with Everton.

QUANSAH TO REMAIN

Liverpool is determined to keep Jarell Quansah as they see great potential in him. Despite an offer, they are not willing to let him go.

According to The Daily Mail, Liverpool turned down the opportunity to sign Anthony Gordon recently, as Newcastle insisted on including Jarell Quansah in the deal.

The discussions have come to a halt as Liverpool is adamant about keeping the young centre-back. Although talks could potentially restart, Quansah will not be part of any future negotiations.

Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that Riccardo Calafiori, a player reportedly targeted by Liverpool this summer, is set to depart from Bologna.

Liverpool’s interest in Calafiori has been widely reported, especially after his impressive performances for Italy during Euro 2024.

However, Calafiori’s success extends beyond just a few matches, as he was a key player for Bologna last season, helping them secure a spot in the UEFA Champions League.

Rodrygo, the forward who helped Real Madrid win the Champions League, is reportedly growing uncertain about his future at the club for the upcoming season.

Speculation has arisen that he may leave the Bernabeu soon.

According to a report in Sport, the 23-year-old is not convinced that new signing Kylian Mbappe will always be the team’s main striker, potentially impacting Rodrygo’s position in Carlo Ancelotti’s starting lineup.

Amidst this uncertainty, Rodrygo is currently facing challenges at the Copa America with Brazil, as the tournament favorites had a disappointing opening day draw against Costa Rica.
