Liverpool transfer is on the verge of completion as Fabrizio Romano discloses the player’s position regarding a move to Anfield…
Fabrizio Romano has indicated that the Liverpool transfer is close to being finalized, shedding light on the star’s attitude towards an Anfield move.
Liverpool’s transfer activity is nearing a significant development as Fabrizio Romano discloses the player’s position regarding a move to Anfield.
Currently, Liverpool is the only club among Europe’s top five leagues that has yet to secure a summer signing, but there are indications that two LaLiga players may soon join the squad.
At present, the primary focus for the Reds is to acquire Real Sociedad midfielder Martin Zubimendi, who can be signed for £51 million due to a release clause in his contract.
Sources indicate that Liverpool is prepared to meet that asking price, and negotiating personal terms with the player is anticipated to be straightforward, despite Sociedad’s efforts to retain him.
Additionally, Arne Slot is eager to recruit a new goalkeeper to serve as a long-term successor to Alisson, with Valencia’s Giorgi Mamardashvili identified as his top target.
Mamardashvili, 23, is regarded as one of Europe’s top young goalkeepers, having made 37 appearances for Valencia last season and achieving 13 clean sheets.
His performance for Georgia during Euro 2024 has further increased interest in acquiring his services.
Liverpool is among the clubs pursuing Mamardashvili, with reports indicating that the Merseyside team aims to secure him on a permanent basis and subsequently loan him out for the upcoming season.
While Alisson continues to be the clear first-choice goalkeeper at Anfield, the club appears to be preparing for a future without the 31-year-old.
According to Fabrizio Romano, Liverpool’s interest in Mamardashvili is authentic, and the goalkeeper is keen on the prospect of joining the Reds.
The skilled Georgian player is receptive to the idea of a loan move, and indications suggest that an agreement could be finalized this summer.
“I can share that Mamardashvili is interested in this opportunity [to join Liverpool],” Romano stated to GIVEMESPORT.
“Mamardashvili is willing to consider a move to Liverpool, understanding that he may not play immediately due to Alisson being the current goalkeeper.
However, he sees the potential for becoming Liverpool’s goalkeeper in the future.
“He is prepared to go out on loan while still being part of Liverpool. The decision now rests with Liverpool regarding their next steps.”
Reports from Spanish media indicate that Mamardashvili may be permitted to depart Valencia for a transfer fee around £30 million.
At the same time, Liverpool’s second-choice goalkeeper, Caoimhin Kelleher, is reportedly seeking a transfer from Anfield in pursuit of regular playing time.
Manager Slot is keen to retain Kelleher, yet multiple clubs, including Celtic, Nottingham Forest, and Wolves, are expressing interest in the Republic of Ireland international.
