Liverpool has swiftly addressed Alisson’s injury sustained during the match against Crystal Palace.

The Brazilian goalkeeper limped off late in the game, prompting manager Arne Slot to provide a concerning update regarding his condition.

Liverpool has promptly notified the Brazilian Football Confederation that Alisson will be unavailable for the upcoming international fixtures in October.

Brazil is set to compete against Chile and Peru in a crucial World Cup qualifying double-header, but they will have to proceed without Alisson, who exited the match against Crystal Palace due to injury.

The 32-year-old appeared to be in distress during the second half and was unable to continue, leading to Vitezslav Jaros stepping in for his debut with the first team.

In the aftermath of the match, Slot offered a grim evaluation, indicating that Alisson’s absence would likely extend for a significant period. Reports from Brazilian media have suggested that this absence has now been confirmed.

As initially reported by Globo, Brazil has already summoned Weverton to replace Alisson. The medical staff of the national team reached out to Liverpool following the match and were informed that Alisson would not be able to participate in the upcoming games.

Weverton, aged 36, has earned 10 caps for Brazil, with his most recent appearance occurring in 2023 during a friendly against Morocco, where he played the entire match.

Brazil has struggled in their qualification campaign, securing only one point from four matches in 2023. They also faced a defeat against Paraguay in September, leaving their hopes for qualification precariously positioned with a total of 10 points from eight games.

“The upcoming fixtures are challenging, but I have experienced the difficulties of playing away at Wolves and Crystal Palace,” Slot remarked to TNT Sports after the victory at Selhurst Park, where Diogo Jota’s first-half goal proved decisive. “We may not dominate as we did today when we face Arsenal away, but both matches will be tough.”

It is certainly positive that we secured victories in these matches, and now it is our responsibility to perform well in the more significant games. Unfortunately, I believe Ali will not be available for those matches, based on how he left the pitch.

Slot also commended Jaros, who stepped in due to Caoimhin Kelleher’s illness. “He performed exceptionally well,” the Dutchman remarked. “He had a successful season, winning both the league and cup with Sturm Graz in Austria last year.

“He expressed a desire to return this season for more playing time. We emphasized that a club like ours requires a reliable third goalkeeper. It was a wonderful opportunity for him to make his debut for Liverpool.”
