Liverpool eyes Lanus defender as potential signing, but negotiations are hindered by the Argentine club’s $15m valuation of the wonderkid.

Argentine club Lanus demands $15m for their promising defender, sparking interest from Liverpool in a potential transfer deal.

Liverpool is reportedly keen on acquiring left-back Julio Soler from Argentine club Lanus during the upcoming summer transfer window.

The club has made inquiries to Liga Profesional team Lanus following their observations of Soler at the Olympics.

The 19-year-old has garnered interest from several prominent clubs after showcasing his talent while playing for Javier Mascherano’s Argentina in Paris.

Having progressed through the youth system at Lanus, Soler was elevated to the first team last season, where he has since made 36 appearances.

He is anticipated to play a significant role in Lanus’ strategy for the current season. According to Argentine journalist German Garcia Grova, Lanus is willing to entertain offers around $15 million (£12 million) for Soler.

Liverpool sees Soler as the future replacement for Andy Robertson, the current favorite left-back at 30 years old.

While Robertson remains a key player, the club is planning ahead and considering Soler as a backup option moving forward.

The 19-year-old’s Olympic campaign came to a disappointing conclusion when Argentina was defeated by France in the quarter-finals.

He has since returned to Argentina and will resume playing for Lanus as discussions regarding his future at the club take place.
