The Liverpool lineup against Tottenham Hotspur at Anfield on Sunday is expected to be without Virgil van Dijk. After a string of disappointing results, Liverpool’s chances of winning the title have diminished, leaving them with little to play for.

Virgil van Dijk is expected to be absent from the Liverpool starting lineup when they face Tottenham Hotspur at Anfield this Sunday.

Liverpool’s hopes of contending for the title have dwindled in recent weeks due to disappointing results, leaving them with little motivation for the remainder of the season. Their focus now is on finishing the campaign strongly, starting with the upcoming match against Tottenham.

On the other hand, Tottenham Hotspur currently sit in fifth place and are aiming to secure a spot in the Champions League. With Aston Villa ahead of them, the North London side must win all their remaining matches to have a shot at finishing in the top four this season.

Liverpool’s injury situation heading into the game is relatively stable. Unfortunately, Thiago Alcantara and Joel Matip will be unavailable for the rest of the season, while Diogo Jota is still not ready to resume training.

On a positive note, Conor Bradley has returned to first-team training and could potentially be included in the squad to face Tottenham Hotspur.

However, there is some uncertainty surrounding club captain Virgil van Dijk. He missed training earlier in the week, and it remains to be seen whether he will be fit to play against the North London club on Sunday.

Jurgen Klopp provided an update on Van Dijk’s fitness, mentioning that he may participate in parts of team training today.

In terms of formation, Liverpool is expected to line up in a 4-3-3 setup. Alisson Becker will be in goal, with Trent Alexander-Arnold and Andrew Robertson as the full-backs.

Both players will contribute defensively and provide support in attacking situations. Ibrahima Konate will partner with Joe Gomez at the heart of the defense.

Regarding the midfield department, Wataru Endo will commence as the defensive midfielder, while Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai will contribute their creative and controlling abilities alongside him.

In the meantime, Darwin Nunez is anticipated to spearhead Liverpool’s attack against Tottenham, accompanied by Mohamed Salah on the right flank and Luis Diaz on the left.

Projected Liverpool starting lineup: Alisson; Alexander-Arnold, Konate, Gomez, Robertson; Szoboszlai, Endo, Mac Allister; Salah, Nunez, Diaz.
