Liverpool possible starting line-up vs Manchester United – as Arne Slot star a strong front line…
Liverpool’s anticipated starting lineup against Manchester United features Arne Slot making adjustments to his midfield strategy.
Liverpool’s potential starting lineup against Manchester United features a formidable front line led by Arne Slot’s standout player.
For the clash with Manchester United, Liverpool’s likely starting formation showcases a robust front line, prominently featuring a key player from Arne Slot’s strategy.
As Liverpool gears up for a crucial match against Manchester United at Old Trafford on Sunday (16:00 BST), the stakes are high.
This will be Arne Slot’s first visit to the iconic stadium as head coach, and fans are eager for a win against their longstanding rivals.
The Reds have enjoyed a strong start to the 2024-25 season, with the transition from Jurgen Klopp to Slot proving to be seamless thus far.
Liverpool has secured comfortable 2-0 victories over Ipswich and Brentford in their opening matches.
In contrast, Manchester United enters this clash following a disappointing 2-1 defeat to Brighton, despite managing a narrow 1-0 victory over Fulham in their first outing.
However, they hold the upper hand after defeating Liverpool in both the Premier League and FA Cup at Old Trafford last season.
Slot has nearly a full squad at his disposal, with Curtis Jones the only notable absentee due to injury. New signing Federico Chiesa is also unlikely to feature as he works on his match fitness.
Considering these factors, here is the predicted lineup for the match against United.
GK – Alisson Becker
He has begun the season with two clean sheets, and achieving a third would significantly bolster Liverpool’s chances of maintaining their perfect record.
RB – Trent Alexander-Arnold
He is expected to play a key role in attack, where he excels, while also being mindful of his defensive responsibilities, particularly in marking Marcus Rashford.
1. CB – Ibrahima Konate
It was expected that the France international would start against Brentford after coming on for Jarell Quansah at halftime during the victory over Ipswich. With a full week to recuperate, there should be no concerns regarding his fitness.
CB – Virgil van Dijk
He began the season in outstanding form, but he will not take United lightly.
LB – Andy Robertson
He appears to have fully recovered from the injury that sidelined him for a significant portion of pre-season. In the first two matches, he has performed consistently well and has been a significant attacking threat.
CM – Wataru Endo
While Ryan Gravenberch has been the preferred choice as the No.6 in the initial matches, Slot may consider that Liverpool could benefit from more defensive stability rather than just ball control, which could lead to Endo making his first start of the season.
CM – Alexis Mac Allister
He has gone about his duties quietly in the opening fixtures. An efficient player, he could play a crucial role in the midfield contest.
CM – Dominik Szoboszlai
He has started both of the first two matches and received commendations from Slot in his pre-match remarks. There seems to be little reason for a change, despite Harvey Elliott seeking more playing time.
RW – Mo Salah
Having already scored twice in two games, he thrives in matches against United. Liverpool’s key player will be highly motivated for this encounter.
ST – Diogo Jota
He has contributed a goal and an assist this season. Jota is Liverpool’s most efficient finisher and will be eager to capitalize on any opportunities that arise.
LW – Luis Diaz
He was exceptional against Brentford, scoring the opening goal. Diaz’s main objective is to increase his tally of goals and assists, and he is currently on track to do so. He will aim to keep United on the defensive at every chance.
