Liverpool must agree to a £68 million fee to secure the signing of a player who is eager to join the club.

This summer, Liverpool aimed to strengthen their attacking options, with Newcastle United’s Anthony Gordon frequently mentioned as a potential addition to their squad.

Ultimately, he chose to remain with the Magpies.

In addition to Gordon, Liverpool expressed interest in Eberechi Eze, who was reportedly open to a transfer to Anfield.

However, the club did not submit a formal offer before the transfer window closed and instead opted to sign Italian international Federico Chiesa later on.

According to reports from MEN, Eze has a £68 million release clause in his contract, which will be reactivated next summer.

With three years remaining on his current deal, Crystal Palace is in a strong position to maintain their asking price.

Crystal Palace chairman Steve Parish has indicated that the club is prepared to sell their top talents, as many players aspire to compete at the highest level, such as the Champions League, which the club currently does not offer.

As a result, Eze may be available next year, and Liverpool could finally secure his services if they express their interest and meet the £68 million release clause.

Parish stated, “We want to be playing in the Champions League. The reality is we don’t right now. That’s what players want to achieve in their career, and we respect that and the fact that sometimes we’re going to be a pathway to that.”

The 26-year-old has demonstrated his capabilities in the Premier League and has earned a spot in the England national team.

So far this season, the versatile forward, who can play both as a left winger and in an attacking midfield role, has scored 2 goals in 4 appearances for the Eagles.

If Liverpool decides to pursue Eze next summer, he would represent a significant investment, especially considering they already have Luis Diaz, Chiesa, and Cody Gakpo in their ranks, which may lessen the urgency for such a move.
