A Premier League rule could prevent the Liverpool midfielder from participating in the upcoming fixture against Manchester City.

Due to a regulation within the Premier League, the Liverpool midfielder might not be able to play in the match against Manchester City.

Liverpool midfielder Alexis Mac Allister may miss the upcoming match against Manchester City due to Premier League regulations.

Mac Allister is currently at risk of receiving a one-match suspension while playing for Liverpool. He has been a crucial player for the team, which is leading the Premier League following a 2-1 win over Brighton & Hove Albion.

The midfielder has participated in nearly every league match this season, showcasing his versatility, which has impressed head coach Arne Slot.

Despite his contributions, Mac Allister did not perform at his peak during the recent game against Brighton.

Liverpool was behind at halftime but made a strong comeback in the second half, with goals from Cody Gakpo and Mo Salah securing the victory.

Mac Allister was substituted in the 66th minute after receiving his fourth yellow card in as many matches.

He was cautioned just before halftime for a foul on Brighton’s Danny Welbeck, marking his fourth consecutive booking in the league. As a result, he is now one yellow card away from a suspension.

According to Premier League rules, a player who accumulates five yellow cards in the first 19 matches of the season will face a ban.

Mac Allister has also been cautioned in previous matches against Crystal Palace, Chelsea, and in a draw with Arsenal.

This situation poses a significant concern for the World Cup winner as he navigates upcoming league fixtures.

Liverpool will face Aston Villa at Anfield on Saturday, where Mac Allister is eligible to play.

However, if he receives a yellow card during that match, he will be suspended for the subsequent game against Southampton on Sunday, November 24, following the international break.

If he manages to avoid a booking against Villa but is cautioned at Southampton, he will still face suspension.

He will need to observe Liverpool’s significant match against reigning champions Manchester City from the stands at Anfield on Sunday, December 1.

Ibrahima Konate and Dominik Szoboszlai have each received three yellow cards in the Premier League while playing for Liverpool.
