Liverpool is about to complete its initial transfer under Arne Slot, having agreed to a £30 million deal.

Liverpool is poised to finalize its inaugural transfer under the management of Arne Slot.

Liverpool is on the verge of finalizing its first transfer under manager Arne Slot, having reached an agreement for Valencia goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili at a fee of £30 million.

Mamardashvili is expected to undergo a medical examination in Spain to finalize the transfer, but he will remain on loan at Valencia for the remainder of the season.

The goalkeeper, who showcased his talent for Georgia during Euro 2024, will join Liverpool next season to compete with Alisson for the starting position.

This transfer represents the first addition for Liverpool under Slot, following unsuccessful attempts to sign Marin Zubimendi, who opted against a move to Anfield.

Mamardashvili began his career in the youth ranks of Dinamo Tbilisi and moved to Valencia in 2021 on a temporary basis.

After impressing then-coach Jose Bordalas, he earned a spot in Valencia’s starting lineup for their opening match against Getafe in the 2021/22 season.

Since joining the club, Mamardashvili has made over 100 appearances across all competitions for Los Ches.

In a statement made prior to their 2-0 victory over Brentford, Slot expressed confidence in the current squad despite the limited transfer activity.

“I trust the team. I’ve inherited a very good group, including many young players,” he remarked.

He emphasized the potential for development among the younger players and expressed hope that they would continue to prove their worth in upcoming matches.

While there have been departures, including young talents Fabio Carvalho and Sepp van den Berg moving to Brentford, as well as Thiago Alcantara and Joel Matip leaving on free transfers, versatile defender Joe Gomez has also been rumored to be considering an exit after being omitted from the opening-day squad.
