Liverpool is reportedly interested in acquiring a £50 million player who Stan Collymore has described as his “favorite player in the Premier League.”

Reports indicate that Liverpool aims to secure the signing of a £50 million star, whom Stan Collymore has labeled as his ‘favorite player in the Premier League.’

Collymore has already expressed a strong opinion on Bryan Mbeumo amid the ongoing speculation linking him to Liverpool.

Although the English transfer window has recently closed, clubs like Liverpool are likely already strategizing for the next season.

The Reds demonstrated their forward-thinking approach by signing Giorgi Mamardashvili this summer, aiming for him to eventually succeed Alisson in goal.

Now, reports indicate that Liverpool is targeting a Premier League forward who Collymore has previously identified as his top player in the league.

Liverpool is considering a move for Bryan Mbeumo, who has impressed at Brentford in recent years, alongside interest from Arsenal and Newcastle.

As per GiveMeSport, Liverpool has turned its attention to the 25-year-old, who has also caught the eye of other elite clubs.

The Cameroon international has made a strong start this season, scoring three goals in his first three league matches.

In the previous season, Mbeumo recorded nine goals and six assists in just 25 Premier League appearances, while the 2022/23 season saw him net nine goals and provide eight assists across 38 matches.

His impressive performance over the last two years has attracted the attention of top clubs like Liverpool, with Brentford reportedly valuing him at £50 million.

Collymore advocated for Liverpool to pursue Mbeumo last year, recognizing the qualities he could bring to the team.

Having played at a high level for Liverpool, Collymore believes Mbeumo would be an excellent addition to the squad.

Last year, he told CaughtOffside that Mbeumo was his “favorite player in the Premier League” and made a compelling argument for why he would excel at Anfield.

“Interestingly, it’s actually one of Toney’s Brentford teammates that I think top sides should be taking a closer look at,” he remarked. “Bryan Mbeumo – I love him!”

It might come as a surprise to some, but Mbeumo stands out as my top player in the Premier League. His quality is undeniable.

“Every time I watch him play, he keeps the ball close, displays a direct style, makes impressive runs into space, drops back effectively, holds the ball up well, supports his fellow striker, finds himself in the box to score, and possesses significant physical strength.

“There’s so much more to say. He’s an exceptional talent! If Salah departs from Liverpool this summer, I believe Jurgen Klopp should seriously consider Brentford’s number 19.”

Does Liverpool need Mbeumo?

While it’s true that Liverpool has a strong lineup on the wings, featuring Cody Gakpo, Harvey Elliott, Mohamed Salah, Federico Chiesa, Diogo Jota, and Luis Diaz, the uncertainty surrounding Salah’s future—especially with interest from the Saudi Pro League and his contract expiring next summer—raises questions.

In this context, Mbeumo could be viewed as a potential successor to the iconic forward.

Additionally, his versatility allows him to play as a forward or a second striker, providing Arne Slot with various tactical options in the attacking setup.

At just 25 years old, Mbeumo is entering his prime, meaning that if Liverpool were to sign him next year, they would be acquiring a player at the peak of his abilities.
