Liverpool planning a surprise approach for Newcastle forward, valuing him at £40 million

In a surprising turn of events, Liverpool is rumored to be making a bold move for the Newcastle forward, with a reported offer of £40 million.

Report suggests that Liverpool is set to surprise everyone with a £40 million bid for Newcastle forward Yankuba Minteh. It is believed that Liverpool has expressed interest in signing the talented winger.

Newcastle may be forced to sell Minteh early in the summer transfer window to comply with the Premier League’s Profit and Sustainability Rules, while also financing their own operations.

The Telegraph reports that the Magpies have reluctantly accepted offers in the region of £40 million for Minteh, who had an impressive loan spell at Feyenoord last season.

During his time at the Dutch club, the 19-year-old caught the attention of Liverpool’s incoming manager Arne Slot, who praised his performances.

Minteh managed to score 11 goals and provide six assists during his one-year loan in the Netherlands.

The Gambia international is also generating interest from teams in Italy and Germany.

They could potentially sell him immediately for a profit and use the funds to secure a new starting winger. Players like Jarrod Bowen, Michael Olise, and Nico Williams are all being considered.

If Newcastle were to sell Minteh, it would enable them to retain standout players Alexander Isak and Bruno Guimaraes.

Earlier this year, 90min reported that the Magpies would prioritize transferring Guimaraes over Isak, with Arsenal and Manchester City showing interest in the Brazilian midfielder.

Newcastle will also suffer from the setback of missing out on European competition next season, resulting in a decrease in potential earnings and reducing the necessity for a bigger squad.

On the other hand, Liverpool is in the process of rebuilding following the departure of Jurgen Klopp and is set to make a return to the Champions League next season after securing a third-place finish in the Premier League.

Slot has been appointed as head coach in line with the club’s restructuring plans.
