Liverpool is on the verge of executing a three-signing strategy, as Fabrizio Romano reveals a big-name player who is captivating the attention of the Anfield hierarchy…
Liverpool is preparing for an aggressive approach with three new signings, as Fabrizio Romano points out a significant player who is making waves among the decision-makers at Anfield.
Liverpool is set to make a splash in the final month of the summer transfer window, as Fabrizio Romano discloses the three signings they have their sights set on for August.
Liverpool may finally awaken from their inactivity as the summer transfer window draws to a close, with Fabrizio Romano outlining the three acquisitions they plan to pursue in August.
To the disappointment of their supporters, Liverpool remains the only Premier League team yet to secure a new player this transfer period.
While the club possesses financial resources, the prevailing sentiment at Anfield is that their relatively youthful squad, filled with talent and promise, requires only minor adjustments rather than extensive overhauls.
Consequently, Liverpool has been cautious about spending their budget on high-profile signings that the club’s management deems unnecessary.
Nonetheless, Arne Slot, the new manager, may still receive three additional players for his team in the final month of the transfer window.
As per transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Liverpool is considering potential signings for a centre-back, central midfielder, and winger.
The signing of a centre-back would help compensate for the departure of Joel Matip due to free agency.
Sepp van den Berg, who recently had a successful loan spell at Mainz, is being considered as an option to fill the gap without the need for a new signing.
Nevertheless, Van den Berg is eager for regular playing time, and if it appears that he will be at the bottom of the pecking order for centre-backs, he will seek a move away.
Van den Berg faces a challenging task to prove his worth to Slot, especially with the likes of Virgil van Dijk, Ibrahima Konate, Jarell Quansah, and Joe Gomez already established in the team.
There have been discussions about acquiring a ball-playing No 6 who aligns better with Arne Slot’s possession-oriented approach. The plan would involve recruiting a specialist for the position and relegating Wataru Endo to the substitutes’ bench.
One of the most intriguing aspects of Liverpool’s potential trio of signings revolves around the attacking department.
Liverpool were strongly linked with a move to re-sign Newcastle winger Anthony Gordon in late June. The Magpies were looking to offload players to meet PSR requirements at that time.
Newcastle’s attempts to secure the 23-year-old England international were unsuccessful, leading them to sell Elliot Anderson to Nottingham Forest for £35m and Yankuba Minteh to Brighton for £33m.
However, Romano has revealed that Liverpool is seriously considering making another attempt to sign Gordon.
Anthony Gordon targeted in triple swoop.
“Towards the end of June, when Newcastle faced Financial Fair Play issues, Liverpool made an offer for Anthony Gordon,” Romano stated on his YouTube channel.
Gordon was open to the move at that time, indicating his interest in joining Liverpool.
Newcastle opted not to accept the proposals, indicating that the discussions were merely informal exchanges rather than a formal offer.
Liverpool expressed a desire to submit a bid; however, it would not meet Newcastle’s expectations for Anthony Gordon, which halted any progress on the deal at that time.
It is important to note that Liverpool’s interest in Gordon is still significant and very much tangible.
He is a player that the club holds in high regard internally, and he continues to be a priority on Liverpool’s list.
Liverpool is currently focusing on strengthening their midfield and center-back positions for the upcoming summer.
In addition to these areas, there are other tasks that the club needs to address during this transfer window.
Liverpool’s management is confident that Gordon would excel if given the opportunity to play at Anfield.
According to Romano, Liverpool highly values Gordon as a player, especially if they decide to make offensive signings.
The club’s internal discussions revolve around Gordon’s potential and they firmly believe that he could become a key player in Liverpool’s future.
However, the issue may lie in the valuation concerning Newcastle, as he is a crucial player for the team, and they are not inclined to sell him for a standard price.
“For Newcastle to consider a sale, it would require a substantial offer.”
Earlier reports from June indicated that Newcastle places a value on Gordon between £70 million and £80 million.
