Liverpool is likely to submit a contract offer for a new signing exceeding £40 million before the week’s conclusion…
Liverpool is anticipated to present a contract offer for a new player valued at over £40 million before the upcoming Friday deadline, marking their first signing of the summer.
A contract offer from Liverpool for a new player, estimated at over £40 million, is expected to be submitted before Friday.
Despite not having made any acquisitions thus far, reports suggest that Liverpool is poised to make a move for Giorgi Mamardashvili, the Valencia goalkeeper, following Alisson Becker’s acknowledgment of the club’s interest.
With Michael Edwards returning and Richard Hughes stepping into the sporting director role, expectations were high for Liverpool’s activity in the transfer market.
The club has already offloaded players such as Fabio Carvalho, Bobby Clark, and Sepp van den Berg, generating approximately £60 million in revenue.
This financial flexibility aligns with Liverpool’s sustainable business model, yet they have yet to secure any new signings as the transfer window nears its close.
In addition to bolstering their goalkeeping options, Liverpool is reportedly looking to enhance their attacking lineup.
According to Caught Offside, the club plans to extend a four to five-year contract offer to Jonathan David in an effort to bring the Lille forward to Anfield before the deadline, with Slot expressing a strong interest in the player.
However, acquiring David will not be inexpensive, as Lille is reportedly seeking around €50 million (£42 million) for their star player this summer.
Furthermore, with Napoli having allegedly reached personal terms with David, Liverpool must act swiftly to secure his signature this month.
David could potentially outshine Nunez
With reports indicating that Slot is eager to acquire David, Darwin Nunez may find himself sidelined at Anfield under the Dutch manager.
The former Feyenoord coach seems to favor a more measured style of play compared to Jurgen Klopp’s high-octane football, which could render Nunez’s chaotic playing style a liability rather than an asset for the Reds.
In contrast, David would introduce a sense of calm to the team. The forward has consistently demonstrated his ability to score goals in recent years, already netting three times in five matches for Lille this season.
This upward trajectory was anticipated by Football Talent Scout’s Jacek Kulig, who labeled David a “superb prospect” back in 2019. Now, five years later, he may be on the verge of a significant transfer.
At just 24 years old, David has much more to offer, making him a player to keep an eye on as the summer transfer window draws to a close.
