Liverpool is approaching the final stages of securing its inaugural summer signing, having come to terms with a player worth £26 million.

Liverpool is reportedly on the verge of finalizing their first summer signing after reaching an agreement on personal terms with Valencia goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili, according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano.

The 23-year-old joined Valencia from Dinamo Tbilisi in 2021, initially on loan, before making a permanent move the following year.

Starting with the club’s reserve team, Mamardashvili quickly made his mark during the pre-season of the 2021/22 campaign. After impressing then-manager Jose Bordalas in training, he earned a starting position in the La Liga season opener.

Since that time, he has experienced a remarkable ascent, establishing himself as one of the top goalkeepers in Spain.

His talents have also shone on the international stage, where he played a key role in helping Georgia advance to the knockout rounds of the European Championship.

Following impressive displays for both club and country, Liverpool has expressed interest in acquiring Mamardashvili.

Fabrizio Romano recently reported that the Merseyside club is seriously contemplating a move for the 23-year-old goalkeeper and intends to loan him out shortly after the transfer is finalized.

He noted that Valencia might be open to accepting an offer exceeding £26 million for their standout player.

In a recent update on X, Romano mentioned that Mamardashvili is eager to join Liverpool, and the club has already reached an agreement on personal terms with him.

Romano also indicated that Liverpool views Mamardashvili as a long-term successor to Alisson, who is approaching his 32nd birthday later this year.

Additionally, the journalist mentioned that Bournemouth is interested in securing him on loan, with the player’s agent currently in Valencia to finalize the transfer to Liverpool, although a formal agreement has yet to be established.

Romano reported that Liverpool has reached an agreement on personal terms with Giorgi Mamardashvili. The player is enthusiastic about the transfer and is open to spending one or two years on loan at another club.

Bournemouth is interested in signing him, which would pave the way for him to become Liverpool’s new goalkeeper following Alisson. Agents are currently in Valencia to discuss terms with the club, but no agreement has been finalized yet.

Standing at 6 feet 6 inches, Mamardashvili is recognized for his exceptional shot-stopping abilities and aerial prowess.

However, there are some doubts regarding his capability to effectively play the ball from the back.
