Liverpool is on the verge of finalizing a £55m transfer agreement and is preparing to offer the ideal welcome gesture.

Liverpool is said to be on the verge of finalizing a significant £55 million deal for the talented Japanese winger Takefusa Kubo.

Reports suggest that representatives of the Real Sociedad player are currently in England, ironing out the last details of the agreement.

The newly appointed Liverpool manager, Arne Slot, has yet to secure a major signing this transfer window.

It is widely believed that a winger is a top priority for the club at the moment.

As per Japanese publication Sponichi, Kubo is expected to sign a contract worth £12.6 million annually, setting a new record for a Japanese player.

The 23-year-old is reportedly eager to make a move to the Premier League and has already begun learning English.

Kubo has reportedly reached a level of proficiency in the language that allows him to confidently conduct interviews with the British media.

He is now awaiting Liverpool to finalize a contract with his representatives.

The fact that his Japan team-mate Wataru Endo is at Liverpool is seen as a positive for Kubo, as it will help him settle into the city.

Endo was a £12m signing last season and has made a strong impression in his first year at Anfield.

Kubo may have to wait for regular playing time at Liverpool, however. As a left-footed right winger, he shares the same profile as Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah.

Nevertheless, with rumors of Salah’s potential departure this summer, Kubo is reportedly seen as his natural successor.

Liverpool could potentially offer Kubo the ideal gift to greet him at Anfield. The No. 14 jersey he wore at Real Sociedad for three seasons is now available, having been previously worn by former captain Jordan Henderson.

Kubo, a versatile forward, has accumulated 16 goals and 14 assists during his time at La Real.

Despite a stint at Real Madrid where he didn’t make a competitive appearance, the former Mallorca, Getafe, and Villarreal player is recognized for his speed and technical skills.

His addition to Slot’s attacking lineup would be highly valued, especially amidst ongoing speculation about the futures of Salah and Luis Diaz.

Liverpool’s first official pre-season friendly is scheduled against Real Betis on July 27.

Although they suffered a 1-0 defeat to Preston North End in a closed-door match, key players like Salah and Dominik Szoboszlai were involved.
