Liverpool is preparing to complete a transaction for a player valued at £75.5 million.

Liverpool is reportedly preparing to make a move for Castello Lukeba, a player who could cost around £75.5 million.

This potential signing comes as the club looks to the future, especially with Virgil van Dijk, who was acquired for a similar fee in 2018, now 33 years old.

According to the Spanish outlet Fichajes, Liverpool is set to compete with Real Madrid for Lukeba, who has been impressive during his time at RB Leipzig.

The Bundesliga club is reluctant to let go of their star defender, but both Liverpool and Real Madrid can trigger his £75.5 million (90 million euros) release clause, which would leave Leipzig with no choice.

Real Madrid is also interested in Lukeba as a long-term replacement for veteran defender David Alaba, who turned 32 in June.

This season, the 21-year-old has started seven league matches for Leipzig, contributing to six clean sheets.

However, he missed the recent match against Borussia Dortmund due to a muscle injury, which resulted in Leipzig’s first Bundesliga defeat.

Lukeba recently played the full 90 minutes against Liverpool in a UEFA Champions League match, where his team secured a 1-0 victory.

He made his senior debut for the French national team in October 2023, but has not been called up since.
