Liverpool is nearing a possible €30 million agreement for Giorgi Mamardashvili, the goalkeeper from Georgia and Valencia.

Reports suggest that if the transfer goes through, the 23-year-old, who impressed at Euro 2024, will be loaned out for the upcoming season, with Bournemouth being a possible destination.

Liverpool may secure their first signing of the summer in the form of Georgia and Valencia goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili, who is reportedly the subject of a €30M bid.

However, should the Reds acquire him, it is unlikely that he will feature for the team in the upcoming season.

Instead, the 23-year-old, who is highly regarded as the top goalkeeper at Euro 2024, would be loaned out for the 2024-25 season, with Bournemouth being speculated as a potential destination.

Local journalists from Valencia report that if a deal is finalized, the Reds would acquire a physically imposing goalkeeper regarded as one of the most talented and promising in his age group, although this transfer would raise certain questions.

One of the primary concerns would be how Mamardashvili would integrate with world-class goalkeeper Alisson Becker, who is still only 31 years old—an age that typically suggests at least two to three more peak seasons, if not longer, for a goalkeeper.

In the immediate future, a loan to Bournemouth—linked through new Liverpool sporting director Richard Hughes—could provide the player with valuable experience in the Premier League and assist in enhancing his English skills.

Spending €30M to acquire a promising goalkeeper and loaning him out to another team for an extended period beyond the upcoming season could raise some eyebrows.

This sequence of events could suggest that Alisson’s time at Anfield may be coming to an end. Despite Alisson’s contract running until 2027, the recent departures of manager Jürgen Klopp and goalkeeping coach John Achterberg have fueled speculation about a potential move to Spain or interest from Saudi Arabia.

While Cláudio Taffarel remains as a mentor to Alisson, bringing in Mamardashvili and sending him to Bournemouth would only seem logical if Liverpool were preparing for Alisson’s departure in the following summer.
