International manager confirms that the £55m Liverpool player is currently sidelined due to injury and unable to train.

Liverpool is hopeful that all 16 players currently on international duty will return to the club in good health.

The Reds face a challenging series of matches when club football resumes later in October.

With Alisson Becker already sidelined due to what appears to be a semi-serious injury, Arne Slot is eager to avoid further losses within his squad.

However, this is often more challenging than anticipated. The team had a demanding schedule leading up to the recent break, and several Liverpool players have already accumulated significant playing time this season.

One player particularly affected is Alexis Mac Allister, who has participated in all ten of Liverpool’s matches thus far, starting nine of them.

After being substituted at halftime during the match against Crystal Palace on Saturday, Argentina’s coach Lionel Scaloni provided an update on the 25-year-old’s condition.

Liverpool would prefer to avoid any aggravation of the issue that arose during the Palace match.

With a tough schedule ahead, they will rely heavily on the former Brighton player, who has made an impressive start to the season.

Concerningly, Mac Allister is just as vital for Argentina as he is for Liverpool, which is why he was still called up to the national team despite his evident injury.

Ahead of their World Cup qualifiers against Venezuela and Bolivia on Thursday and Wednesday, respectively, Scaloni addressed Mac Allister’s current status.

“Alexis is training differently,” the World Cup-winning coach stated. “We will see if he is fit for the first match.”

Currently, he has not been able to participate in training with us, and we will determine whether he will be included in the squad or remain on the bench. However, today poses challenges for him.

“We need to be cautious with him,” Scaloni added. “He is a young player who has already played many matches, and the current situation is what it is.”

Alexis Mac Allister should not have made the trip.

In truth, there was no justification for Mac Allister to travel halfway around the globe to join his national team this October.

Scaloni clearly recognizes that the £55 million player has been heavily involved in matches, and there is little benefit in having him present just to train apart from the main squad.

As Argentine journalist Gaston Edul emphasized on Tuesday, it is highly unlikely that Mac Allister will feature in Thursday’s match against Venezuela.

“Alexis Mac Allister will not start in order to ensure he is fit for the game against Bolivia,” Edul stated on X.

Argentina is expected to secure a victory against Bolivia, regardless of Mac Allister’s presence.

With that match scheduled just four days before Liverpool faces Chelsea at Anfield, it is reasonable to assume that the Reds will not be pleased with these developments.
