Liverpool Injury and Suspension Update Ahead of West Ham Clash

Update on Liverpool’s Injuries and Suspensions, Including Return Timelines for Konate, Bradley, and Szoboszlai Ahead of the West Ham Fixture.

As Liverpool prepares for their Premier League match against West Ham United this Sunday, the latest updates on player injuries and suspensions are crucial.

The Reds are looking to conclude a remarkable first half of the season, currently leading both the Premier League and the Champions League, while also reaching the semi-finals of the Carabao Cup.

This impressive performance stems from an outstanding record of 22 wins, three draws, and only one loss in their first 26 matches across all competitions.

Notably, new head coach Arne Slot has managed this success despite missing several key players during his initial months in charge.

As the team gears up for their trip to the London Stadium, the injury and suspension landscape at the AXA Training Centre is improving, contrasting with the situation at West Ham.

Here’s a summary of the players unavailable for Liverpool in their upcoming match against the Hammers.

Ibrahima Konate

Injury: Knee

Ibrahima Konate sustained a significant knee injury following a challenge from Real Madrid substitute Endrick during the Champions League match at Anfield on November 27.

He required extensive treatment post-match and was seen using crutches the following weekend.

Fortunately, Konate appears to be nearing a return. He was observed in good spirits during the Boxing Day victory over Leicester City, no longer wearing a knee brace.

Although he will not participate in the match against West Ham, Reds manager Slot indicated that Konate is progressing towards a return to training.

Expected return date: Accrington Stanley (H), FA Cup, January 11

Conor Bradley

Injury: Hamstring

Conor Bradley had to leave the match against Real Madrid in the closing minutes due to a hamstring injury.

Manager Slot has not provided a specific timeline for the return of the Northern Ireland international right-back, but reports from his home country indicate he may be sidelined for up to six weeks, potentially missing action until January 8.

Similar to Konate, Bradley has not yet resumed training, but the manager has suggested that both players could be available for the significant Premier League match against Manchester United on January 5.

“They won’t be ready for the match against West Ham United,” Slot stated regarding Bradley and Konate.

“There is a week between that game and the next. We will assess their condition then. It’s challenging to provide an update at this time since they are not training with the team yet.

“We hope they can progress towards returning in the coming days. However, considering Ibou has been out for five or six weeks and Conor for a similar duration, they will be competing with fully fit players who are performing well, so I must make the right decision when they are back.”

Given this context, the matches against United and the Carabao Cup semi-final first leg at Tottenham Hotspur on January 8 may be too significant to risk Bradley and Konate’s return.

Potential return date: Accrington Stanley (H), FA Cup, January 11.

Dominik Szoboszlai

Suspension: One match

Dominik Szoboszlai will miss the match against West Ham after receiving a yellow card during the 3-1 win over Leicester.

This was the Hungary international midfielder’s fifth yellow card of the league season, resulting in an automatic one-match suspension.

Konate, Darwin Nunez, Cody Gakpo, and Ryan Gravenberch each have four yellow cards this season, and while Konate will be absent on Sunday, the others must navigate a precarious disciplinary situation against the Hammers.
