Liverpool’s focus on securing the £60m midfielder has been significantly greater than their attention towards Ederson, according to a journalist.

The £60m midfielder has received more attention from Liverpool in terms of signing, as stated by a journalist.

Liverpool have been heavily linked with a move for Atalanta midfielder Ederson.

The Reds could do with signing a upgrade in defensive midfield this season as they look to plug a few gaps in the squad.

And having had an excellent season with Atalanta, Ederson had reportedly worked his way onto the shortlist at Liverpool.

Journalist Fabrizio Romano claimed that the Reds have already even been in contact with Ederson’s agents.

The Brazilian does tick a lot of boxes for Liverpool. Ederson dominated the Europa League final recently and looks like the kind of midfielder Arne Slot might be missing.

Liverpool’s attention on Teun Koopmeiners

Liverpool had numerous chances to witness the impressive performances Ederson consistently delivered this season.

He put on a good show against them in the Europa League quarter-final when Atalanta defeated Liverpool at Anfield.

That match alone indicated the high quality of La Dea’s squad. According to Bailey, Liverpool was well aware of this, as they had been closely monitoring them throughout the season.

The journalist mentioned that it wasn’t Ederson that Liverpool was truly interested in, but another player who has been frequently linked to them – Teun Koopmeiners.

Bailey clarifies that there are no ongoing discussions with Ederson and Liverpool. Although they are aware of him and have been closely observing Atalanta, Ederson will not be joining Anfield this summer.

According to Bailey, Liverpool had a keen interest in Teun Koopmeiners. However, the highly-rated Dutchman, valued at £60m, is set to join Juventus instead.

Bailey confirms that Liverpool will not interfere with Koopmeiners’ move to Juventus.

He states that Koopmeiners will be heading to Juventus alongside Thiago Motta. While Liverpool may still consider signing a midfielder, Bailey believes they are content with their current midfield options.

Will Liverpool secure the services of a new midfielder?

Despite making significant additions to their midfield last summer, it still appears that Liverpool could benefit from further reinforcements.

Wataru Endo was among the players recruited a year ago, and the 31-year-old had a commendable debut season at Anfield. However, he does not possess the qualities of an elite defensive midfielder, which Liverpool requires.

Nonetheless, it seems that Endo is expected to remain at the club for now. With the emergence of Stefan Bajcetic, as well as the versatility of Alexis Mac Allister and Curtis Jones to play in deeper positions, Jurgen Klopp may believe that he has sufficient options.

In our view, this would be a mistake on the part of the owners. Liverpool attempted to sign a top-class holding midfielder last year but were unsuccessful. It would be unwise to allow this deficiency to persist for another season.

However, as things currently stand, we do not anticipate this issue being addressed.

While there may be other players of interest to Liverpool, they are likely to prioritize other areas for the time being.
